When will BuddySpy be able to reveal other identities of a yahoo user? For example, say a friend has a yahoo I.D. of JohnDoe and 5 other additional names, but all I know is JohnDoe. It would be cool for SpyBuddy to reveal his other 5 identities.
April 24, 2005 at 11:49 am #106501UnSaKreDMemberHi chester,
Once I have found a good way or anyway of pulling profile aliases and sub accounts, It will be implimented. It is definately a feature I wish to develop and add to the software, but currently there is no method of doing it.
Buddy Spy 2.2, formally released today.

April 25, 2005 at 12:37 am #106679sunflowersMemberHi Unsakred,
Downloaded new 2.2 but there is no buddy spy exe. I uninstalled the old version and now I cant install new! What am I doing wrong?
April 25, 2005 at 12:42 am #106680sunflowersMemberWhoops forget that last message… duh! i downloaded the source code…omg… one too many beers today. Sorry Unsakred. 🙂
April 25, 2005 at 1:44 am #106505UnSaKreDMemberbeers! and you are not sharing! :phist: lol
Yes, the source code wont do you much good unless you have visual basic 6 lol.
As for making a list scan, its pretty easy to do, just select the list scan option and click add user, to make or edit a list, or open to load a list.
April 26, 2005 at 8:15 pm #106591dan-i-amMemberBrandon,
First of all, I’m glad to see you have continued working on this excellent project. Having not been on this forum in a few weeks I didnt realize you had decided to continue. As one of the early testers (as you duly noted your kudos in the previous releases to “dan-i-am”) I have seen a great dedication to making this the first class application it currently is. I have never seen anyone who is so open to user suggestions as you have been on this forum.
Until now, I had been religiously using the older versions and just downloaded 2.2 and, as always, am impressed once again by the changes.
Keep up the excellent work!

April 27, 2005 at 12:13 am #106506UnSaKreDMemberHey dan,
Glad to see your back.
Yes, i decided to pick up the mantle make some changes, learn a few new things..
Glad you like the new changes, because there are still tricks up my sleave.
I am always open to user suggestion, doesn’t mean i can do it.. But I am open to it! lol
April 27, 2005 at 4:50 am #106592dan-i-amMemberYep, I’m back.
I’m glad to see that you also implemented one of earlier suggestions… the option to stop scanning if the user is offline. Perfect feature (ok..an ego boost for me 🙂 )One thing I did notice in 2.2. The “SCAN” button contains an underscore under the “S”. In most windows apps, the underscore under a letter means you can use the “Alt” key + “underscored letter” combination as a shortcut for that function. I tried this but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Im not even sure it’s really needed since you can now just press “enter” after typing the name. Just something I noticed…not a big deal.
And one other late night brainstorm….
It would be nice to be able to double-click on a name, either in the “Status Report” or “Scan History” to rescan, rather than right-click>rescan.Just food for thought 😀

April 27, 2005 at 5:55 pm #106507UnSaKreDMemberHey dan,
Yes, that new feature all be it, a pain in the butt.. Is definately a good feature to have.
Yes, normally w/ an underscore under a letter it means a “hot key” feature.
I didnt think it was all that necessary, so i didnt add hot keys.
As for the double click option, At first that was implimented, but it turned out to be a pain.. I might consider adding it in, for future builds.
Right now though, im involved w/ making a plugin framework for buddy spy.
So other people, can add to buddy spy, without needing the whole source code.
Not sure as to how far that will go, but its always nice to learn something new for future use.
April 27, 2005 at 6:20 pm #106687andyandyParticipantHi,
have just found Buddy Spy and was eager to check it out. Great idea but it doesn’t seem to work for me:
1) After entering my user name and password in the configure window and pressing ‘login’, the status line indicates ”… is attempting to log in” but never changes to “connected”. Is the change of the button label from ”login” to “logout” THE indicator that the login process has been successful?
Finally I activated the auto login, and now I don’t see any indicator where I am connected or not.2) I can only scan one user per session. If I want to check another user, the program somehow jumps to the configure window when I click on ‘scan’. So I have to close the program and run it again.
3) I have two logins at Yahoo. Login1 is used for logging in into the Yahoo Messenger in the invisible mode, and Login2 is used for logging in in the Buddy Spy. When I run Buddy Spy with Login 2 and check Login1, the result is always ‘offline’ no matter the real status is. Setting the delay to 5 sec didn’t help. Surprisingly, other methods show Login1 always ‘online’, no matter the real status.
Same trouble with other users.4) A minor bug: bot status settings aren’t saved at the program shutdown.
I don’t use any firewalls or similar.
Any suggestions?
April 27, 2005 at 6:34 pm #106508UnSaKreDMemberFirstly,
Connections problem are generally inherent to those people outside of the United States, that is because of unicode settings.
So if you are outside of the US that will affect your able to use Buddy Spy.
2.) It is jumping to configure, because The account keeps getting knocked offline..
3.) When scanning your own name, peer to peer doesnt really work. Invite scan will always show you as being online, unless a packet is returned saying you are not, avatar requires the user to have an avatar for it to work. Web check will display online, if you are signed into other yahoo services, such as mail.
4.) Bot status settings are being re-done, and when they are it will be updated to remember the selection.
