Hey B,
I just found something a bit strange. Here’s exactly what happened. Some of it may be relevant but some not.
1) Left Buddy Spy open for about an hour without using it.
2) Scanned the last ID on my list. Results returned.
3) Tried to rescan the next name up on the list and it jumped back to the “configure” screen.
4) I logged out and logged back in (knowing that freshly logged in bots give better results)
5) Went back to the list and tried to rescan the last name. Results returned.
6) Tried to rescan that same name again and it jumped back to the “configure” screen.I’ve tried to find the pattern that causes this but since it’s the first time I’ve seen it I can’t find the pattern yet. This is with build 2.2.0.
Just one more “hiccup” to throw on your already full plate.
Oh yeah….. the “plugin” framework is an AWESOME idea.
Continue the great work!

April 28, 2005 at 4:37 pm #106509UnSaKreDMemberHey, dan ill take a look at it.
It jumps back to configure, if its not connected.. so ill look into it
April 28, 2005 at 7:49 pm #106594dan-i-amMemberIt’s happening again… this time it was only idle for a few minutes.
As far as not being connected… when it goes back to the “configure” screen it is still showing the “Logout” button assuming that it’s still logged in.
Just more info to work with…

April 29, 2005 at 4:36 am #106510UnSaKreDMemberI have noticed an additional latency in the yahoo servers, especially today.
I am still looking into it, but from what I can tell its not a buddy spy problem.I am planning an update tommorow some time.
It will add a new menu to the list scan, fixed a few misc things you have suggested and that I have found.
And some more work on the scanning engine / pause.
May 1, 2005 at 12:41 pm #106511UnSaKreDMemberI released a beta build, with some of the features you mentioned Dan.
Just use the auto update feature to download it.
Auto Update makes it a lot easier to distribute the updates.
In the beta build, I put in an id check method before scanning.
Also, fixed the room scanning issue. Room scanning should be fine now, although I hadn’t heard any complaints from it, I found during just a regular scan.
It would only join one room, any scan after that, it would display not in room or private.May 2, 2005 at 3:55 am #106689swizzyMemberHello I am new to the forum but have used Buddy Spy 2.1.8 as well as the latest build. Unsakred, what is the id check method? What does it do?
Thanks! Love the program!

May 2, 2005 at 4:00 am #106690swizzyMemberAlso, I updated 2.2 using the auto-updater, and now when I scan user names (using 6 seconds, which is what I have always used) the scan seems to go a lot faster. Is this supposed to happen? Not complaining, lol, but I am wondering if the scan is actually working.
Thx again!
May 2, 2005 at 11:32 am #106576kimmyMemberUnSakred,
I just updated the the upgrades for 2.2. What exactly is fixed room scanning?
May 2, 2005 at 1:15 pm #106512UnSaKreDMemberHi swizzy,
The id check verifies that the id exists, before scanning.
Secondly, from what i have seen so far, no false positives w/ the tweaks I have made.
Kimmy, fixed room scanning means, in other versions of Buddy Spy, there was an error during a room scan, it wouldnt join the room if the user was int it after the initial scan.
May 2, 2005 at 1:42 pm #106691swizzyMemberHi,
I tested it to see how it would notify me if a user ID isn’t valid. So I typed in “sdsd44g4g4g4” (just punched in some keys) as the user ID and scanned it. It came up as online, with no other messaging. After a few tries buddy spy did pop up an alert saying the user id wasn’t valid, but is still showing it as online when I scan it. What could be causing this?

May 2, 2005 at 8:31 pm #106513UnSaKreDMemberI think im going to release beta’s/bug fixes every two weeks.
With 2.1, it seemd like there was a new release every 3 days =))
So i think within the next few weeks ill have another update as well.
Theres always work/features to be done!
May 3, 2005 at 7:47 pm #106596dan-i-amMemberOk…updated to 2.1.3. Here are my thoughts….
1) Initially it seems to be faster than previous versions.
2) Aborting after an “offline” result seems to have been removed. It still checks even after the user is determined to be offline.
3) What happpened to the “History” page. I like that.. maybe a performance issue?
4) Looks like you went back in time for the interface… buttons are from previous versions…
5) Still an awesome app 🙂– dan –
May 3, 2005 at 8:03 pm #106597dan-i-amMemberWoohoo… I love the “double-click to rescan” option. Anyone else like/dislike it?
Either network latency is back to normal or Buddy Spy is getting quicker 🙂
The color scheme in the grid looks good… easy to easily differentiate status’ at a quick glance…
Still looking good… 😀

May 3, 2005 at 8:15 pm #106514UnSaKreDMemberHi Dan,
glad you like that option, figured why not.
Actually Buddy Spy is getting quicker.
Especially if you select skip if not online.
Been working around with the pause intervals and such.
The next beta 2.2.02 will hopefully fix the status issues w/ the bot settings.
I have fixed the login invisble problem, so now the bot fully logs in invisbly.
Now its just a matter of getting all the other status’s to work w/ one another.
I might add another one in too, like Fake Games or something along those lines.
The 2.2.02 beta unfortunately will have to be a full install, since I had to modify the packetslib.dll, I am also working on the auto update feature to include additional files, that need to be downloaded, such as packetslib.dll
After the status options are done I will continue with the plugin framework,
Also yahoo! games is now a valid option to dive into, so once the plugin framework is complete, I will probably add yahoo games integration as well.
Thats all the news from the home front for now.
