This headline caught my eye, mainly because the article was focused on small-to-medium sized businesses that are using instant messaging to improve productivity.
Yes, you heard right. IM improves their productivity.
Runs counter to the popular notion that IM is a waste of time, and corporations should do their best to prevent their employees from using it, lest they fritter away the hours chatting with their friends and generally being unproductive.

I definitely think that IM provides greater productivity while I am working. I don’t have to call/email/walk over to a co-worker to ask them a question and can continue to work on other things while waiting for their reply.
