Twitter is web service that is one part IM; one part social network. It’s unique in that it works via the web, via IM, via text message or any of a number of services (including the latest version of Digsby).
I like Twitter because it allows me to post updates to anyone who is interested, and also I can keep up-to-date on my friends, business contacts and others.
I’ve also setup a Twitter account for BigBlueBall, so you can get a notice whenever a new post is made in the forums. Just visit the BigBlueBall twitter profile and click “follow” (once you’ve setup your own Twitter account). Then you can configure how you want to receive updates (on the web only, via SMS or whatever suits you).
If you are on Twitter, I’d like to add you to my contacts. Leave me a message here with a link to your profile so I can follow you, too!

The model of “everyone cares what I’m doing!” is foolish, but using it as a communication medium is cool, since it interfaces nicely with IM, SMS and Web (I’m now wondering if you can email in tweets?).
It’s also nice to follow closer friends, and people whose opinions matter to you. For instance; Jeff says some interesting stuff. =P

May 1, 2008 at 11:59 am #168379TigerbladeParticipantI fall in and out of it. I tend to Twitter a lot more on weekends than during weekdays when I’m sitting at work… and then every once in a while I hit that “what’s the point of this?” point.
Then I inevitably return for a while.

I use it for almost everything, from posting recent work I’ve published online to how I’m feeling on a certain day.

October 16, 2009 at 8:46 am #168380RabidKittenParticipantTwitter is a plague!
Okay, I might be being just a little dramatic. Really, I don’t mind twitter too much. I tried it for about a week. Just didn’t stick, I guess. It lacked substance for me. Something to really sink my teeth into other than pointless…aimless stalking.
Yes! Contrary to popular belief, the feline desires more than that. Not much more, but a little bit. Just a smidgeon. The lack of solid organization makes my Migraine Alert Level go from yellow to orange, which is probably my biggest complaint thusfar.
Que Sera!

this is my first post in this forum so I just want to say hello first.
Now to twitter. Yes, I do twitter. I think it’s useful to get related information on topics you like. But for me it’s not thecentre of my life as it is for al ot people on the internet 😉October 12, 2012 at 1:45 pm #168385sabulbaMemberTwitter is good social media site and this is popular too as you are free to leave your messages and you can send direct messages to the other people who are associated with your account’s friend list. social media sites are highly popular in the people like facebook and twitter. These are most famous sites which people uses highly.
Some times before many of accounts were hacked by some unknown people they were recovered quickly but this was leak in security of twitter. Some unique changes in the working process and security level of these sites as anyone can misuse these sites if they can be hacked easily.
