My school stops anyone installing anything onto the computers, unless you know the admin password…. 😡 It also has a program called ‘super scout’ which blocks you from going on any website which might be interesting, such as a game site.

May 1, 2004 at 3:42 pm #68782colinMemberat our school, we have Bess, some firewall or somethin(forgive me if its not that at all, need to brush up on my comp. terms haha) it blocks, all porn, games, gambling sites, auctions, etc etc. But I guess some people know how to get past it because one time there was AIM on one of the library computers…
May 1, 2004 at 10:43 pm #68777syntaxMemberAt my school, the rules say that students aren’t allowed to install software or visit inappropriate sites, or sites that aren’t used for educational purposes. There are lots of people (including me) who have used AIM Express during study hall. But lately people have been kicked out of the computer lab during study hall because of it. As a result, I’ve been avoiding the lab. I only use computers when I’m in AP Computer Science class or when we do research during other classes.
July 28, 2004 at 8:28 pm #68787etErnaL SyNMemberwell usally I only use the computer at school for playing games and not for aim but if I did I would use aim express but only people in my class would be online which is pretty pointless.
December 23, 2004 at 9:01 pm #68788LLXerxesMemberhow can I? Who is there to contact, when they’re all at school? I odn’t wanna download something like that and I don’t wanna get suspended.
outside of school is differentDecember 23, 2004 at 9:38 pm #68765DavidParticipantAt my school we have some content-blocking software called St. Bernard, however using the URL http://toc.oscar.aol.com:5190, we can still get on AIM. Although lately we have been using Remote Desktop to get to our computers at home.

But I voted for the “friends and family” one because that is closest.

January 4, 2005 at 12:12 am #68792AzNSoldierParticipantWell my school doesn’t allow it but I go on it when the teacher isn’t looking. I usually go on AIM express so I can talk to my friends that are on the other side of the room :p . I can get some answer, lol.
January 17, 2005 at 2:47 am #68790RustyMemberHow do you do that at school? Oh in computer class yea they didn’t say anything about it at my school but I go on it on free day which is every Friday and the guy doesn’t see the comptuer I minimize it when he comes around from his desk on the other side of the room. The science classroom has aim on the computer but it doesn’t let you use it but you can use aim express.
