hey I need help… I wanna see an AOL profile but I dont have AOL…Is there a website or something that will allow me to see it??
[Edit]: Made the subject line more descriptive. Subjects like ‘help’ tell us nothing. Also removed the request for personal contact. This is not what a forum is for.
August 24, 2003 at 12:22 am #91366ShadowSlayer469MemberPlease do not ask for people to contact you for an answer, this forum is so that all can see how to do things. Try Aim Filez it uses an AOL account to look at it for you, or you can use AIM Express
August 24, 2003 at 11:38 am #91364DJHyperbyteMemberI did a simple search for ‘AIM profiles’ and found some results. Next time use the search feature to see if your question is already asked and/or answered.

August 30, 2003 at 1:39 am #91365CharlesMemberYeah DJ…you weren’t rude like that to your friend who made his first post yesterday. I smell favoritism.

There was already one and we lost a good member because of it.August 30, 2003 at 5:40 am #91363Jeff HesterKeymasterWelcome to the forums, crazypeach. I don’t think DJHyperbyte was rude though. Let’s dissect his reply…
Quote:quote:I did a simple search for ‘AIM profiles’ and found some results.Hmmm… He did a search and gave you a link to the search results, making it easy for you to get your answer.
Quote:quote:Next time use the search feature to see if your question is already asked and/or answered. Then he gave you instructions on how to use the forum, explaining that you should search first to make sure your question hasn’t already been asked and answered.
Finally, he edited your topic to conform with our forum guidelines (which you were asked to read when you joined). At least he left a comment so you could understand why he edited it. Usually when I edit topics, I just change it and leave it at that.
He is helping you understand how the forums work, so take it easy on him.
There’s a saying that “if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.” It would’ve been easier for DJHyperbyte to simply tell you “go search” like some others do, but he went and found what you were looking for. He explained how you can find what you need next time. I only wish more members were as helpful as him.
