I hope this isn’t a repeated question, I went back a few pages and could’nt see anything like my problem!
When I use my webcam, it works fine as long as more than one person is viewing. However when only one person is viewing, the image freezes after less than a minute at both my end and the person viewings end.
I used to be able to get around this by adding myself to my messenger and inviting myself to view but that doesn’t work anymore, it won’t let me view it.
I’m on Yahoo 6 and dial up, but I can’t see those as being problems as it works fine when more than one person views.
I would be so grateful if someone has a solution to this!

I think Messenger is trying to check for supermode and since you’re on dialup it will mess up your broadcast.
why more than one don’t freeze it up is supermode check is disabled with more than one viewer is watching.
I suggest going thru those webcam options in your preferences.
under super webcam tick “Keep broadcasting in standard mode”

I can’t see a Check for Supermode in the webcam preferences, but I do already have Keep Broadcasting in Standard Mode checked :/

Are you broadcasting with small or large image?
make it small and when start broadcasting try waiting a while before you invite someone to view.
What level of Quality have you selected under Camera Source?
make it the lowest to see if that makes a difference.
It’s hard to get decent settings for dialup users on webcams these days, specially since the recent changes to the webcam servers.

August 13, 2006 at 1:12 pm #150171fallingMemberIt didn’t work, think I’ll just have to accept that I need more than one viewer to use my cam until I get out of the dark ages and get broadband!

Sorry the workaround didn’t work.
Have you got the latest Version of Yahoo! Messenger?
It may be a dialup issue but not certain about that.
Do you have the ads patched on the Cam broadcaster and viewer?
Have you ever had the same problem with other cam options on other Yahoo! clients?
