We have 3 forms of communication: Text, Audio and Video.
Is there an IM system that brings popular IM systems together for at least text and audio allowing multiple accounts on each? For example, I tried Nimbuzz which got rave reviews but it seems that you can’t put more than one Hotmail account in it. Kind of useless. The main ones are MSN, Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook and Skype I think. Trilliam wasn’t bad but in the free version there is no audio.
There really isn’t a one stop for everything.
As far as text based messaging goes, I’d prefer Trillian (and the free version would work just fine), but that won’t help for video as currently (even in the paid version) I believe only Astra and Yahoo are supported. They do plan on adding WLM, etc. in the future.
Digsby is also very good for pulling together multiple accounts from all over the place – at least for text. I’m not sure of the current video capabilities for it. It is a free service so you might give it a try.
