This is an e-mail I received today…I thought of just sharing it with those on my list, then I decided to share it with all of you. It’s something to think about that is actually really important. Especially all of you who are headed back to school (no matter what year) or to college for your first time by yourself. Think about these things if you start to feel down about yourself.
E-mail wrote:Did you know that it’s Beautiful Women Month?Facts On Figures: There are 3 billion women who
don’t look like super models and only eight who do.Did you know Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14?
If Barbie was a real woman, she’d have to walk on
all FOURS due to her proportions! The average woman weighs 144 pounds, and wears
between a size 12-14.One out of every 4 college-aged women has an eating
disorder. The Models in the magazines are AIRBRUSHED!!! – NOT
Perfect!!A psychological study in 1995 found that 3 minutes
spent looking at a Fashion Magazine caused 70% of
women to feel depressed, guilty and SHAMEFUL!Models 20 years ago weighed 8% Less than the average
Woman.Today they weigh 23% less……
~~ Beauty of a Woman ~~
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she
wears,
The figure she carries, or the way she combs her
hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows.
The beauty of a woman
With time, only grows..An English professor wrote the words: “WOMAN WITHOUT
HER MAN IS NOTHING” on the blackboard, and directed
the students to punctuate it correctly. The men wrote: “Woman, WITHOUT HER MAN, is nothing.”
The women wrote: “WOMAN!! WITHOUT HER, man is
nothing!”The Images of Mother
4 YEARS OF AGE Y My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE Y My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE Y My Mother doesn’t really know
quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE Y Naturally, Mother doesn’t know
that, either!
16 YEARS OF AGE Y Mother? She’s hopelessly
old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE Y That old woman? She’s way out of
date!
25 YEARS OF AGE Y Well, she might know a little bit
about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE Y Before we decide, let’s get Mom’s
opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE Y Wonder what Mom would have thought
about it?
65 YEARS OF GE Y Wish I could talk it over with Mom.I hope this got you thinking.

Nice article and poem.August 27, 2005 at 3:44 am #128785AqeelParticipantThe poem is so thought provoking, a bitter truth.

As a matter of fact, I picked up Star magazine today while waiting for my prescription at CVS. I saw Nicole Richie in her new slimed-down body and thought, “Wow, she looks good, I wish I could be like her.”
I’m pretty tall for a girl, I’m 5’9″ and the IDEAL weight for someone my height and age is around 165 pounds. I know I’ll never be as skinny as Nicole Richie (who at 5’2″ weighs 92 pounds). So it’s better for me to just try and stay healthy at a normal weight.

Therez much more than just looks or body stats of the girls…. Similarly, for girls looking for men there is much more than just muscles, money and height… Hope both the guys and girls understand this.

I am studying to be a Food Scientist/Nutritionist, so I know what healthy people should not look like…two examples are Nicole Richie and Lindsey Lohan. People should only loose 1-2 pounds a week tops when on a diet. Being underwieght is just as bad as being overweight. Eating a healthy balance of the food groups is the way to go.

I also like the point that you make with the models and fashion magazines.
May 27, 2006 at 11:29 am #128783sarahtownyMemberWomen and our battle of weight, can be nightmare. I know I got a quite ill last year, and that caused me to lose loads of weight. I am only 5’3″ and went down to 98lbs and a size 6, all my girlfriends were like wow you look great.
Funny really, but it was a male friend who took me to one side and gave me the biggest rocketing of my life! I went to the doctors and got put on a diet to get some weight back on. At the time I could eat and eat and nothing went on. That can actually be as horrible as if your overweight, it was quite scary. Now back to a happy 112lbs and size 8 and feel 100 times better! When I look back the pictures I looked awful! I might have some podgy bits now but so what, I am happy, and healthy.;)
Loved the poem about mum’s, my son is 14 and some days he can hardly mutter hello! Saying that other day’s he loves me to bits. All part of the fun!
May 27, 2006 at 7:29 pm #128788williamleeMemberWe often take for granted and not give credit to the women. Who push themselves to the limit to give care to all around them. All for selfless reasons. Not even thinking about what it may do to herself.
She wears the marks of life like unwanted badges of honor. All those things many see as flaws are but true beauty marks.
Heroine
Author: William WattsShe started out as normal,
As any woman could be,
But fell lower than life could take her,
As anyone could see.Her world full of storm clouds,
Her life began to fade,
No more pain could harm her,
Numbness had been made. She than looked deep inside herself,
Her reflection she could see,
She barely recognized herself,
Standing there helplessly. Then all at once she listened,
To the voice inside her head,
Said why have you given up,
When you are not yet dead. She stepped into the shower,
And washed those clouds away,
She found a reason to go on,
And today would be that day.No more will she allow the world to slowly get her down.
No longer will depression make her wear a frown. She doesn’t hide her identity, a cape she does not wear.
But she fought her way through depression.
And from where I stand that’s nothing less then heroine. -
