Or are some older version no longer connecting to the newer ones? Thanks
MM, I don’t know, though I’d guess that any old version, as long as it still “works”, would work with anyone.
I’ve just upgraded from 7.5 to the new Beta 8.0 “Windows Live Messenger” (thanks to Jeff) – and I still see all my contacts exactly as before, and can communicate with them. I guess most of then are on 7.5, but maybe some on earlier versions.
Providing the version is still supported by Microsoft (some versions force you to upgrade to the earliest working version), then they should work.
MSN Messenger clients do not connect directly to each other anyway. MSN Messenger 7.0 does not conenct directly to MSN Messenger 7.5, it goes via the MSN Messenger Server, thus, messages can still be passed between different versions of the program.
