This is the thread about the latest Yahoo! Messenger v9.0 beta.
Homepage: Yahoo! Messenger 9 Beta
Download: http://download.yahoo.com/dl/msgr9/us/ymsgr900_797_us.exeKeep in mind this is beta software. There’s bound to be bugs and issues. If you encounter any, please post them here. Thanks. =)
November 3, 2007 at 2:45 pm #164946DermotParticipantI have noticed they handle the ads different in the beta
9.0 will not set file attributes on urls.xml and setting it to readonly will not work anymore
They also have gone to some extra measures to stop the editing of the exe to patch it by hiding/encrypting it
has adam figured out how to block the buddy ad in 9.0 michael?

Yahoo! Messenger version 9.0 beta build 797 is 100% officially supported now as well as Windows Vista 32-bit Edition operating systems. We more or less have been working our behinds off to get all of this stuff done ASAP.
November 6, 2007 at 3:20 am #164956mmmaakMemberI get an annoying “ding” every time I click on a contact in my list. Is this a new feature of the Beta? If so, what is its purpose?
November 6, 2007 at 1:15 pm #164955Doris KenneyParticipantWell I too had that annoying ding sound. Happened in voice conference invites as well…I really can’t see any purpose in it truthfully.
But I gave up on the Beta due to some conflicts with releasing sound profiles reliably and downgraded again for the time being. I’m going to wait a little while until I give this another shot.

-Doris-Careful, patndoris. I did the same thing, but I noticed that after downgrading, when I signed on with a profile other than my primary, all of my inactive profiles appeared online. Every time I signed on, I had to activate and then deactivate my inactive profiles in order for them to appear offline. You may experience the same problem, and there may be other problems with downgrading after installing the beta. The easiest solution for me was to reinstall the buggy, unimpressive beta 🙁

November 6, 2007 at 10:46 pm #164952emmMemberMy offline messages aren’t showing up.
I can hear the notification, but the message box doesn’t appear.
I’ve checked message archive and they are in there, whereas with the last version all offline messages showed in the message box and were deleted once closed. They only stayed in my message archive if i actively replied to them.
emm
November 7, 2007 at 3:00 pm #164954Doris KenneyParticipantI downgraded, but while I was using it, I didn’t have any trouble with offlines coming through. Seems different people have some very different problems going on – have you checked your preferences on how they’re saved? Did anything change there? I’ll admit, I don’t archive so they were always gone once I deleted them.
-Doris-November 7, 2007 at 4:04 pm #164953emmMemberFirst time I’ve ever had problems with offline messages and I’ve checked all my preferences as well.
Think I’ll be downgrading back to version 8 too
