i downloaded
betternamebetterMSN just now. i unzipped it, and when i opened the file, it gave me an error saying “Componet ‘MSCOMCTL.OCX’ or one of its dependences not correctly registered: a missing file or invaild”
what should i do?
in the folder: C:unzippedbettername-1.0.0 there is 2 files. better name, and richtx32.ocx. what is missing then?
do i need to move this (ese) programs into the messenger folder?
can anyone help??April 4, 2003 at 7:32 am #97222AnnaParticipantMSCOMCTL.OCX is Microsoft’s Common Controls OLE control (yes I CAN possibly use the word control more). The run-time error (339) has nothing to do with this ringy-dingy BetterName but rather your own OS.
Find a recent version of MSCOMCTL.OCX and place it in your C:WINDOWSSYSTEM folder (Win 9X systems) – or C:WINDOWSSystem32 (NT-based systems).
Next time, going to BetterName for support with their own software would be ideal.
April 4, 2003 at 5:51 pm #97224gingeMemberHmm, do you mean BetterMSN? BetterName is also available at the same site (also written by me) and requires MSCOMCTL.OCX, but bettername doesn’t.
BetterMSN has a really intelligent installer which is meant to download this file it you don’t have it, but I got it wrong (one line of code out :() and so it doesn’t. The file is available from http://www.hotmailstuff.com/download/mscomctl.zip , and following windaphoner’s instructions should work.
Thanks to Jeff for pointing me in the direction of this post.
