Is it possible to find out if you have been blocked by another user in gtalk?
Hello Janne and welcome to bigblueball.
The answer is no, there isn’t a way to find out if you’re blocked in Google Talk.
Why not?
Because of the way the Jabber protocol works, which is what Google Talk runs on. If they’ve blocked you then they obviously don’t want to talk to you, so find some other menas of communicating with them? But unless they unblock you, you aren’t going to find out or bypass the block. You wouldn’t want someone else to find out if you blocked them, would you? I know I wouldn’t! :p
janne, you can learn with gaim. but it is not healthy. by the gaim’s (linux ver.) system log, can show weather the user log in the gmail or not. so if he/she use the gmail and does not seen in the gtalk list, that means; 1. he/she doesn’t log in the chat 2. he/she blocked you. you can try the gaim and figure out.
blozturk,
Any tips on how to do this? I have pidgin but I can’t see anything about ppl logging into gmail with it.
Janne, I think I’ve worked out another way using pidgin… Right click on a user and select get info the screen will then say getting info for [email protected]. If it doesn’t load any info then i think they’ve blocked you. I tested this with two accounts and it seems to work.
