hi friends,
a few months ago, there was some virus which apparently caused the computers to restart itself. I was trying to search for any topic about it but didnt find any thing relevant. any ideas how to remove that virus or where can I find info relating to it?
thanks.July 2, 2004 at 5:49 am #42454BrianMemberI had this happening to me several times this week. I haven’t gotten anything after I downloaded something from (http://www.microsoft.com/security). Have you tried to scan for patches/fixes from Microsoft (http://www.windowsupdate.com)?
July 2, 2004 at 5:59 am #42456neo_ny_23Memberwell honestly its not me but its one of my friend who hasthe same problem. I had read somewhere either here or in some news paper that some virus is causing computers to restart and there was also a detailed procedure how to remove this virus and solve the problem. in my opinion if there is no software problem then I wuld rather check the smps of my cpu. coz few years ago I washaing the same problem and it was due to my smps. but still I want to know about the virus. it wuld hv been realy helpful had I remembered the virus name.

July 5, 2004 at 1:58 am #42455Sh8keS 32MemberIt does sound like the “Blaster Worm”. So maybe this will help. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html

I wouldn’t say that. I found it on my school’s systems. I helped get rid of it. It’s not that hard tbh.. just make sure you run a windows update once every two days or so.
