CRICKET EXPLANATION FOR GIRLS/FOREIGNERS
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out. When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
August 27, 2005 at 7:58 am #128794MartinBradleyMemberSimple as that eh!
Still, the way your Aussies are playing at the moment I think you need a few lessons on the game eh! :p
August 27, 2005 at 8:20 am #128797QwertyMemberHahaha. It’s been the first time in about 7 years you could say that so just relax hey mate. 😛
August 27, 2005 at 8:32 am #128800sarahtownyMemberWell we have Freddie a good Lancashire lad, that has come good! :0) Also since 87, we thought we would let you win for a bit, just to keep your sprits up! 😀
Anyway, I am playing tomorrow, so watch out for slogger Towny, who will bash out the odd six or more hopefully!! If I am out for a duck. (please don’t let that happen), I will not be telling you anyway:o Yep us girlies are taking over the world hehe even the sacred game of cricket!!
Oh, and ps no I am not playing in the Ashes haha just the local village team lol, but I think you would have worked that out anyway! Oh,but saying that if the Aussie’s are short of some expert playing skills, I could become available. Oh my that’s so mean, sorry Querty just having a giggle …. Sarah runs away before Querty gets to cross with her!
August 27, 2005 at 11:10 am #128801AqeelParticipantSimply Cricket is the game of in and out and who knows when you’re going out, speically when it comes to Pakistan team, the un-expected ones. However defination is funny, in and out:)
August 27, 2005 at 12:54 pm #128803__m3nt4l__MemberWow.. you say Pakistan is unpredictable. What do you have to say about our team? :((
P.S. Aussies gonna win Ashes 😉
August 27, 2005 at 2:37 pm #128798neo_ny_23MemberI dont think Aussies are gonna win the Ashes. And I really hope they loose (sorry Querty :-P). Like this Indian team, Aussie team has also become too “complacent” and needs to learn some lessons again. Plus, both Indian and Aussie team lack a lot of match practice, where as teams like England, and Sri Lanka have been playing for some time.
I am more excited about the soccer world cup next year than expecting anything from this stupid Indian team right now. I hope they telecast the Soccer world cup in US next year or else it will really s.u.c.k.
Sarah – I hope you score a double century and win! 😉
August 27, 2005 at 4:29 pm #128804__m3nt4l__MemberFirst, lets not compare the Australian team with the Indian team.
Two, the Aussies arent “complacent”, they just lack a little practice and luck.
They almost won the second test too.
Three, I’m sure the Aussies are gonna bounce back ;D.
August 27, 2005 at 5:16 pm #128795MartinBradleyMemberThe Aussie’s don’t lack practice. They’ve been touring England this summer for a while before The Ashes began. As for that second test, they might have statistically only just won it, but in reality England dominated the game, as they did in the 3rd Test. Had it not been for the bad weather, I’m quite confident that we’d be leading 2-1 now.
True, they’ve had some harsh decisions going against them, but you know, swings and roundabouts.
August 27, 2005 at 5:31 pm #128799neo_ny_23MemberTalking about luck, I am sure that every team is unlucky about “decisions” when they tour Australia. I would say they just lack the consistency that they had few months ago and thats may be because of the lack of big match practices or may be they are just complacent. Had both the above reasons not been a factor, then how could a team like Australia lose to Bangladesh in an opening game?
Frankly, Australian team was also pretty lucky when India toured Australia the last time. Again, had not been they lucky, then India might just would hv won the series by 2-1. So, if this time, luck isn’t with them, I won’t really care because they had enough “lucks” earlier.
And most importantly, I would say, England team has been playing great for some time and I knew from start that England will dominate the Ashes series.
August 27, 2005 at 5:33 pm #128796MartinBradleyMemberAustralia won at a canter at Lords in the 1st Test, but I’ve just been watching it now, play hs just finished, and a good point was made saying that one of the main reasons for England’s good performance since Lords was that the bowling attack are working as a unit and putting constant pressure on the Australian batsman.

Indians:confused: they have a great batting line which is non-stop one goes and other comes but.. in the recent few years they have also improved their bowling section specially the pace attack but the only problem with them is this that they rely on superstars, on a few players, according to Qwerty defination of Cricket; “If one gose out then all gose out and if one stays in then all stays in.”In ashes specially the 2nd test Australians are on the worset of their luck:o Nothing is going right for them. But they have the fighting spirt and their team play as one unit… I hope that they will make a glorious come back in the 3rd test.:)
