Ive been asking around a lot lately about this little error ive been getting.. first of all.. i have windows ME.. Dell Dimension L600cx… everytime i go to open a prog made for aim.. it says “Failed to load control ‘tocSock’ from TOCSOCK.OCX. Your version of TOCSOCK.OCX may be outdated.. and etc.. i dont see how its possible that its out of date.. because the programs worked fine before.. now they just quit and start doing that.. same for most ocx files.. every program such as auxsock.. and some others.. i dunno.. i HAVE updated the files.. and registered them.. i shouldnt have to do that.. being, the ocx files came with the programs.. so i dunno.. any feed back would be greatly appreciated. ty
August 27, 2003 at 9:05 pm #56284CharlesMemberWell, whoever made the program used an outdated version of Visual Basic or C++, they would want to upgrade with a service pack from Microsoft. If you have the file, it should work. Incase your files are out of date, just run a search on google, most are available for download. Hope that helps…
EDIT: What program is it anyway?
EDIT #2: This is what I found in the big-o-software forum. Take a look.
That program is a joke.
It’s using tocSock.ocx which was written by friend of mine Robbie. I haven’t used the program but Im thinking what he was trying to do is connect to AIM Server using tocSock.ocx and add more users to the list since the list is stored on AIM Server. Well this will never work !
Server will accept the user and add him to the list. But the Aim Client will block any user over 200. The only thing that will actually work is you patch your AIM client…

Oh yeah….everyone else on there said that they couldn’t get it to work either. 😮The link : http://discuss.big-o-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=3167
August 27, 2003 at 9:10 pm #56286Someguy03MemberDont try a search on google. It takes much to long to find anything as small as a runtime file. Go here, It is a search just for missing files that cause runtime errors: http://www.webattack.com/help/missingfiles.html. Go to the bottom of the page and their will be a search. Make sure all the needed files are placed in your system32 folder. Whats program is this happening with?
August 27, 2003 at 9:12 pm #56281CharlesMemberI already found the whole issue on google. 🙂
August 27, 2003 at 9:14 pm #56290jonhanqokMemberive done that.. i replaced the files with updated files.. even though like i said.. they were already updated.. it says they were made in 2003… and some odd days ago.. and the programs are punters.. stuff like that.. and warn mods… they all worked fine not to long ago.. one day.. i get on.. try to open one.. and it says that.. all my files are in the right folder.. icon drop is one of the programs.. other is warn mod (updated)
August 27, 2003 at 9:18 pm #56282CharlesMemberThese programs worked before?
August 27, 2003 at 9:19 pm #56291jonhanqokMemberyes.. they worked before.. few weeks ago they worked.. just fine.. no problems..
August 27, 2003 at 9:22 pm #56283CharlesMemberHmm…..if that is the control you are missing, the forum said that it was a bad control and that it was made by this guy’s friend and can’t possibly work. Are there any other controls that are missing?
August 28, 2003 at 4:09 am #56289jonhanqokMember… all files are in my sys folder.
[Edit]: Read the forum policies. BigBlueBall does not support this kind of activity.

No, the activity of warning someone to 100% in one go. I do not believe being able to do this serves a general purpose, nor helps you to get your *.ocx files to work. 🙂
Meanwhile, this ‘tocsock.ocx’ file is a library with controls and/or functions for AIM. I found a version that looks recent on Google. Try placing this file in your C:WindowsSystem32 folder and it should be all fine again. 😉
August 30, 2003 at 7:42 pm #56287jonhanqokMemberoh… and by the way.. i never asked to how to warn someone to 100%.. i said i found a warn mod.. i already know how.. thx..
September 22, 2003 at 9:44 pm #56292samsungCPMemberYea I am getting the same error with the tocSock.ocx file, and I found out about this program from my other computer, and the other computer the program runs fine while this computer it comes up with that error! wtf? They are both windows 2000 professional, so what is wrong? what do I need to do? Thanks in advance.
September 27, 2003 at 11:10 pm #56293pykotikMembertry getting mswinsck.ocx into your sys directory, it’s needed for tocsock to work; but windows won’t tell you that straightforward for some reason. hope this helps
February 20, 2004 at 2:34 am #56294amhsoParticipantI cannot get access to the system32 folder, why is that? it just says that the files are hidden, and cannot be modified the keep it running.
