Hello to everyone in this wonderful community!
I feel quite sad that I have negelcted BBB for so long, as I used to be a very active member here. I thought that some of you might like to know what I’ve been up to (if anyone really cares).
Some of you know I was struggling for a while after graduation and I fell into a slight depression. I was down on my luck for a while, but things have taken a turn for the better.
Three weeks ago I was offered a position as a Group Sales Manager at the Independence Seaport Museum on Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. I was so happy to have my first REAL job! I start on February 20 and couldn’t be more excited. Basically, my job will be to pump more visitors into the museum…school groups, church youth groups, vacationers, etc.
This past Tuesday, I found an apartment and am signing a lease this Saturday.
Please visit Independence Seaport Museum if you get a chance, and perhaps you would like to come for a visit! the museum boasts a wonderful maritime heritage and it’s great fun!I just wanted to let anyone who was (or is) in that situation following college. Keep your head up! I thought I would never get a job, but persevere and work hard. Nothing worth having ever comes easy.
I’ll keep you all posted when I start next week!

I’m so glad you found it. Sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you. I look forward to seeing what cool things happen next.
February 16, 2007 at 4:55 am #157936Jeff HesterKeymasterHey, congratulations on the new job, Rae! I think I know where that museum is. I stayed at the Hyatt Penn’s Landing a year ago for a conference. What a great area in a great city.
Good luck and great to hear from you! 🙂

Nice to hear your good news. Life is not always a bowl of ripe cherries, but experience comes in learning to take the rough with the smooth. If I ever get to Philly, I will make a pit-stop at the Independence Seaport Museum.
Congratulations on your new job and your new lodgings. Have fun!

so i’ve been working at the ISM now for about 3 weeks as the group sales manager, and i absolutely LOVE IT! my coworkers are great, our intern is fabulous, and my boss is chill.
i haven’t yet woken up and thought “man, this job sucks” or “i don’t wanna go to work today” which is something i definitely did NOT want in a job. i’m pretty much settled in nicely.
here’s something i think you all would get a nice laugh at. our ticketing system, paciolan, is seriously the oldest program i have ever used. it’s DOS based and is about 15 years old. i’m not lying to you when i say that when i sat down and started to learn the program, i thought to myself, “the folks at BBB would LOVE to get a chuckle out of this!”
all in all…a great job in a great city. great co-workers and lots of fun. call me and i will set up a tour for you!
March 12, 2007 at 1:49 am #157943PhilipModeratorThat is super news, Rae. I’m really happy for you. Enjoy life, have fun…and always be grateful for what you have.
