you can get on IRC through trillian without signing up or downloading anything. in trillian, go to your connection manager, and add a new IRC connection. give it the server name (like irc.bigblueball.com::6667), the name of the room you want (like #bigblueball), then your nickname of choice (like mine is Tigerblade), then the other info like your name is up to you to make it whatever you want it to be. i’d recommend using your real name though…
April 28, 2005 at 7:08 pm #120601Jeff HesterKeymastermIRC is a client, IRC is the “service”. you can connect to IRC using many different clients including telnet. you don’t really need to do much to connect to an IRC server (/server example.com on most clients). Unlike aim, yahoo, msn, etc there is no “default” server/network to connect to. there are thousands of networks that you can connect to (http://searchirc.com/). you will probably want to connect to some of the bigger networks: EFnet, Undernet, DALnet, freenode. different networks are “known” for different types of activity. once you have connected to an IRC server you can either join a channel (usually /join #channel) or you can private message someone (usually /msg nickname message). some networks allow you to register your nickname, others allow you to register a username, and some don’t allow you to register at all (sometimes thoose are the most fun ;)).
more information is provided here: http://irchelp.org. bigger networks have their own #help, #mIRC, channels. in them you can find people who are idle, or who may want to talk to you. if you need help you should visit them first.

I’ve thought for a while about what could possibly be the best solution for your problem and after a bit of Google’ing I came up with this list. Just make your choice and do it. 🙂Thanks.

Try making you’re nickname someting like ‘loserface’ or ‘EEDOK’
Stop being a smart mouth, you’re not funny. Just log on with EEDOK and I’ll tell you how to register when I feel like it.May 10, 2005 at 5:02 pm #120606TigerbladeParticipantguys guys… take it easy… no need to snap on him. stlytm, if you’re still reading this, have you figured out whatever you need help with or do you still need more?
