MemberI have an msn.com email address. Since downloading messenger 6 beta version I have lost my email notifications. It has now stopped notifying me and for some reason it launches outloook express rather than hotmail.
Even if i log on using windows mesenger now, it does the same thing. How can I fix this?
Feel free to reply here or contact me by email or messenger: [email protected]

ParticipantMy guess is that MSN has either dropped support for msn.com addresses or has yet to add it to the new version. As you know it is a Beta version, which means it has bugs and is not complete.
My advice is to go back to MSN 5 if you need that feature. Or you can always get a new hotmail account and switch everything over to it – pain in the a** though. If you really want to keep msn 6 beta, and want a quick way to logon to hotmail why not save a shortcut to http://www.hotmail.com on your desktop? Or put it in your Links in IE.

MemberHere’s the trick: when I switch back to 5.0 it’s still launches outlook now. It’s pissing me off. I want my notifications back =/

Well before you turn it off open up msn messenger and click that link i was talking about – sorry i wasn’t clear on where it was.
The Passport feature is under Control Panel > User Accounts > Your Account > and its the bottom link on that page
You should be able to turn it off there.Hope it works 😀

MemberIt’s still not working.
I suppose I will have to make a new email, but then i’ll have to notify all my friends and contacts. Plus I like my address as it is. What a pain in the ass.
Thanks all the same. 🙂

Memberyou could try this ,right click on internet explore go to properties and left click it ( a new screen should appear) along the top you should see ,Genral,Security,Privacy, ect. go to PROGRAMS (left click) then you should see six boxes, the one marked “EMAIL” change to hotmail and press apply then ok to close the box.
hope this helps in some way .May 30, 2003 at 8:18 am #62158thecanuck

ParticipantRather than changing your email address, why not just add your hotmail account to Outlook Express. You can check your hotmail with it, so if you can’t beat em – join em. Just add a new account and put in your msn details, it should work.

You can’t read @msn.com in Outlook unless your a Subscriber.
Also I had the same issue with Outlook opeing up for my @msn address for awhile but it seemed to fix it’s self.

Easy mistake 🙂 tho it would be handy if they would allow non MSN subscribers to use it.

MemberJust wanted to say that GED’s advice worked. I’m not sure why it changed all of a sudden, but her advice fixed the problem.
