To make a long story short, I need to be logged into WIM on my laptop at home all day sort of on call for work. I don’t want to have to hear the ding or check every 5 minutes I have an IM.
Is there a way to get an email or SMS (on my cell) when I get a message?
I am open to non-WIM clients, though I need to use the WIM platform (ID)
I don’t believe WLM will forward as SMS unless you are offline. I was never able to get SMS to work on my phone even though I registered my mobile number.
I know a couple of staff members use WLM and show as SMS sometimes. I’ll see if we can get an opinion from one of them.

It definitely works for me. I’ve been using SMS via WLM for at least 5 years now. Check out this site to set up your mobile account. Once you’re going, you can receive and reply to any messages sent via SMS.
Now of course, if you have a Smart Phone, most of the carrier’s have an application for WLM, which is great. I use it on my Blackberry.
