A group of about 10 of us use YM for work. We login at different times so have to send offlines all the time.
We randomly lose offline messages to the point where we have to ask each other if they sent anything to ensure we haven’t lost a message. The messages do not show up in the archive of the receiver but they do show up in the archive of the sender. None of us are using the browser yahoo messenger. This is only the stand alone client. This has been ongoing for more than a year.
It’s getting really irritating and we’ll have to switch from YM if this continues.
Please advise.
Offline messages aren’t the most reliable method of communication. Obviously, if you attempt to send one, it’s going to show up in your local log, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the person on the other end will ever see it.
My recommendation? Use YM for live, real-time communication. If someone is offline, revert to email or other more reliable form of asynchronous communication.
But that’s just my $0.02 worth. YMMV….
Thanks for the reply.
Offlines are so convenient though. Any other clients that handle them well?
