Ok, guys, Luci is about to take the plunge into the mobile computer world by getting herself a MacBook Pro…that’s right a Mac. I am seriously finished with the Windows experience and the fact that my family doesn’t know how to work the Mac OS is a wonderfully great thing:cool: . So my question is for all of you computer case junkies. I want a case that can go in my backpack for school, which would be a sleeve. I am also looking for a case/sleeve with a plastic like shell, but haven’t found any I like. However, I also want to have some pockets for a few peripherals. I am thinking about these and would like to know what you think and any other ideas you may have. Thanks bunches:D

http://wrappers.typepad.com/Here are “invisible shields”, pretty cool:
http://www.shieldzone.com/category/laptops/You do know most any laptop case will work, they do not have to made specifically for Macbooks, after all they are just cases, so that might broaden your search if you were just looking for macbook cases.

Shadow: thanks, unfortunately these don’t fit the 17in MacBook Pro. As for the plastic cover, I mean for the bag to have a plastic shell built-in to give more protection.
Thanks again guys…anyone have anything else?
June 10, 2006 at 3:21 am #146148SpikeMemberIf you’re that paranoid about, like, dropping your laptop or being tough with it, why don’t you just buy a Panasonic Toughbook, that way you can drop it all you want? :p
June 10, 2006 at 4:25 am #146150LucifinaMemberlol I know I know, but it’s like, too big and not cool lookin’! Yea, I am paranoid because I’m the person that drops things in water hence the reason I have an otterbox for my ipod. Now if they only had one for cell phones :p .

Sorry, guys, I just want to protect my investment….geez louise:D
June 10, 2006 at 1:21 pm #146146OreoMemberI need to look around…but when I was teaching there were crafty little backpacks with hard cases built in. One thing you need to think about though is the fact that sometimes those laptops get REALLY heavy. You may want another way to carry it around aside from your backpack. Sometimes you just don’t want that stuff strapped to your back.
Though, you may want a hard case, it is not always the best way to go…it adds extra weight and may not protect the way you think. (Boy oh boy..I saw it ALL!). The best way to protect your new investment is that extended waranty (esp. on the screen and motherboard). Most of the time it is crap…but I had a laptop MB go down on me…I was glad I had coverage..I suggested it to my students and a number of them had to use theirs as well and were happy they had it. So many more things can happen to a little guy that moves around than to a desktop. Shell out the extra bucks for the coverage rather than a fancy case. That’s my two cents. 🙂June 10, 2006 at 3:25 pm #146151LucifinaMemberOh don’t worry, I made sure I have the extra extended warranty. My dad has always said that to me and I never really believed it until I had a Dell, of course, and went through 3 hard drives, 2 fans, motherboard, graphics card, etc (in 6 months)….yea, I’m not kidding. Yes, I am worried about the weight. I did find a brenthaven (I think) that had the plastic shell and It was like a sleeve, but boy was it HEAVY!!! Thanks Oreo!:D
