Hey guys,
one of my friends from the restaurant has asked me to help him design the menu for his appartment and make copies of it. That is, to make real menus for him.I have made the designs, but I just wanted to be sure which Printer to use to print out those big menus and if any special procedures I should follow. If any one of you want to take a look at the menu (I designed it using Adobe Photoshop) so that you can have an idea how it looks like and what precautions should be taken while printing it, please let me know.
BTW I have HP PSC 350 all in one printer but I dont think its good enough to print out main copies for the real size menus.

June 1, 2005 at 4:46 am #122908EEDOKMemberI don’t remember Canon making printers that can handle 11″ papers, I know HP and epson make ones that do, and that HP’s were a lot cheaper than Epson’s ones and have perfectly fine quality and you can normally pick one up at a local retailer.

My canvas size (of the pictures in Adobe Photoshop) is 15 inches long and roughly 6.5 inches wide. I can reformat the sizes in the adobe photoshop. But am not entirely sure how to print those menus out so that they will look good.

Becuase that is what printer I have, so if you are going to print at home you would have to get a printer that could has a wider paper handling and that can do complete borderless (1350 only does 4×6 borderless) or as someone mentioned go to a local Kinkos or print shop and get it done there. You could make the menus 15″ long by 8.5″ wide, and have a little white (or paper color) border, and get a photo cartridge for the printer to get the best print quailty. The options are:
1) shrink and print with a border (1350 does put up some good quality at a huge sacrifice of speed)
2) buy a new printer (ask your friend to purchase?)
3) go to a Kinkos or local print storeAlso, I am currious, can we see the menu design?
June 2, 2005 at 1:48 am #122911neo_ny_23MemberShadow, sorry, it was a type. The Printer model is HP PSC 1350, not 350.
The Menu is a 4 page menu with the front page being the picture and name of the restaurant and all those stuff.. We havent decided about the picture yet.
The rest of the pages are linked below:
Here is the book-layout:
page2 and page 3page1 and page4 (page 1 is still not developed yet so its blank)
Hit me if you have any more ideas about pictures.

I assume your friend is simply putting the pages in plastic menu sleeves? I personally wouldn’t use an inkjet printer for this, a laser printer would give you a much more professional looking product. Most Print/Design Shops will be able to do this for you at a reasonable price (trust me, I work in one). But if you’re on a tight budget, you may have no choice but to do it yourself. Your printer can likely only print 8.5 x 11 though, so you might be limited there.
That’s my professional opinion anyway.
