Home › Forums › Archives › Instant Messaging › AIM Support › "You must restart your computer before you can install AIM" – GRRRRRR HELP!
So I’ve been getting this message when I try to install AIM. I want version 6.X and not 7.X.
So I went to some website where they had all the versions of AIM and I tried to install all the 6.X’s, but everytime it would say I have to restart….so i do restart.
Then when I try to install it, the SAME MESSAGE APPEARS!
GAH!
Then I was like fine, I’ll just deal with 7.X, but even with 7.X it’s saying that I have to restart…..
I need to get AIM like soon. How can I fix this problem?
I restart everytime it says to, but then when I install it again, the SAME MESSAGE APPEARS…..
Help pleasee.
Thanks.
You shouldn’t have to reinstall after you restart. Some applications will require a restart as the final step of the installation process. Once the computer is restarted, installation is (usually) complete. If you run the install again (which shouldn’t be necessary), you’ll get prompted to restart again.
What version of Windows are you running? Try going to Start > Programs and make sure it isn’t actually already installed.
