How is he unsettling the election? From what I read, he did not take sides, and in fact, he said that neither Bush nor Kerry could protect us.
Looks like the Middle East Media Research Institute may not agree.
CharlesMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by spikeAhh…but you still get a laugh…I found this while searching with Google…it’s funny to see such a professional company screw up a little…Does anyone have Japanese installed, anyway?
Nobody screwed up Spike, unless you count not limiting searches to languages you can read/your computer has characters for. Perhaps someone in Japan needs that article once in a while? And no, I do not have the Japanese character set installed. If you do, for some reason, want to use a different language, go here.
CharlesMemberYeah Magistyk…thanks for all the great contributions here at BBB as a moderator.
CharlesMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by DavidNo, I don’t care that they searched anything, THEY TOOK MY COMPUTER AND LOCKED IT IN A ROOM. They can’t take anything, not without any evidence.
Exactly. The 4th Amendment protects you from unreasonable search and seizure without probable cause. They didn’t seem to offer a reason for searching the laptop, either a sign of paranoia, stupidity, or both ;).
You did nothing wrong, it’d be different if they had come in and said they were finding suspicious traffic coming from your IP and wanted to check your system…but this is after they have first checked their network. They didn’t have the right to confiscate your laptop without telling you why. And even if they did tell you why, the reason can’t be you were on the network or something so harmless.
🙂 stupid school administration, I hope you take it to the school board, get someone fired for being stupid :p
CharlesMemberMeh. My school blocks it too because the catagory “Instant Messaging” is filtered. Along with “Educational Institutions,” which I found ironic while researching for an arts project. My God, Websense sucks, heck the school homepage was blocked at one point.
Oh and Dave, my computers at school don’t let me edit proxy settings, have already tried many times…doesn’t work.
CharlesMemberA DSO exploit is a hole in IE.
First, let’s be clear. The vulnerability in Internet Explorer has been corrected. If you’ve patched IE and are staying up to date with current patches (service pack 2) from Microsoft, you’re safe, even if a DSO exploit is reported.
The confusion arises from a bug in Spybot Search and Destroy that continues to report the DSO Exploit problem, anyway. There are ways to force the report to go away, but it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Spybot supposedly has plans to fix reporting the problem.

Thank God I wasn’t Windows ME.CharlesMemberCongrats Kyle!
Use the stick wisely…
CharlesMemberSpeaking of ignorance, I hardly consider Michael Moore’s movie (not a documentary) a worthy source to inform me of the failure that led to 9/11.
For some real, no-partisan-spin information on what happened with 9/11…may I suggest the 9/11 Commission Report? I found page 66 especially interesting. 🙂
As for my opinion of John Kerry, the guy is a left-wing nut job from Boston. His 20-year record in the US Senate of voting against weapons systems being used in Afghanistan and Iraq right now is a disaster. Never in the history of the US has any President been elected who has such a weak record on national security, and right now we are at war.
I strongly urge anybody who wants a realistic breakdown of 9/11, to read the 9/11 report. If you do choose to believe Mr. Moore over a bi-partisan committee, then keep sipping the kool aid.
CharlesMemberIt does this because otsego IS a proxy server. That’s how it makes you have a lock next to your name, phone, or whatever… localhost is your computer (since Otsego is running on your computer). It doesn’t really matter either way, but changing it back will prevent some Otsego features from working correctly.

As an AMD fan, it is impossible for me to be satisfied with their mobile processors. They get really hot, really fast. I can’t watch a flash movie without the fan just goin nuts, same with certain high quality videos and games.
What exactly do you base your experience on, a laptop you once had? Did you maybe consider that there was something wrong with the machine or the processor, if it gets so hot?
I just bought a brand new Acer Aspire 1357LMi, with a Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 3000+ and it does not get hot at all. Ok, I admit… if I play GTA Vice City for hours it gets a little warm, but far from hot.
Yes I have considered there being a problem. I currently have this laptop, no more than a year old. The fans spin up when they are not necessary (some small flash animations) and it ends up heating from the fans instead of them serving a use. IMO it is likely bad design and poor ventilation, it doesn’t even fair as well as I’d like on hard surfaces. HP said it was normal, however I do not find a flash animation, at least not many, worth revving up the fans and burning the machine out.
Quote:quote:If you read through the review, you would know that the battery lasted all the way through black hawk down when he was testing the battery life under load. I also read another review that a guy played medal of honor for two hours until the battery died, which is only thirty minutes away from the estimated time it takes to drain the battery when running under medium load (ie ms word… surfing web). And that will fit my needs because if I do play games on it, it will be either at lunch, or at home where I will have acess to an outlett. My reference to it not playing long would be because of heat generated, not necessarily battery life.

IMO, for laptops, the Pentium M processor is worth the extra cash. Battery life and speed on par of that of a P4…can’t beat it. That said, I suggest an IBM laptop. They last damn long and are some of the highest quality machines I’ve ever encountered. But, be prepared to spend anywhere from $1,400 – $3000 for a decent machine. (I configured a nice one for $1,400 a month ago: Pentium M, 1.5 GHz, Radeon Mobility 7200, 512 MB (already have some RAM for a laptop), 80 GB HDD, 15″ Screen…nice machine) I would try IBM first.
That Athlon 64 laptop you were looking at probably wouldn’t be able to play UT2k3 for much longer than a half an hour, being generous of course, without liquid cooling. The point: go Intel Pentium M for a laptop.
CharlesMemberMy school’s logo isn’t online either. But our team is called the Raiders and our colors are red and white.
CharlesMemberUm, the statment that says “Basically, AOL is smart and can configure itself. So hit Ok to begin.” isn’t true at all.
1) AOL is not smart.
2) The only thing AOL can configure is a retarded program known as AOL 9.0 Optimized for the n00b leaving no options other than nice little colors for the n00b’s enjoyment.
3) Changes is spelled wrong on the format your sn dialog.…who even uses AIM anymore? Of all the IM clients, it has to be THE most primitive and crappy messenger in the world– and it’s gettin’ worse.
CharlesMemberThat is NOT legit. Don’t “login” using it. Run your AV program to remove it and check for adware and spyware.
Free AV: http://www.grisoft.com , http://free-av.com

EDIT: Oh, and your password should already be set up through Outlook’s Account Properties. There is no need to enter again using that sort of dialog. If you did need to re-enter it, the dialog would not be MSN-specific, it would just display an error.
