There seems to be some incompatibility with send file in Gaim’s Yahoo protocol. Filesend seems to be working fine for me in MSN. Its the same case in the latest BETA release too 🙁
narayananMemberQuote:5. it likes to crash a lot…lolTrue, I usually keep my Yahoo! IM running all the time. Sometimes the application crashes overnight without me doing anything. Only after a mouseover on the systray do I realize that the application has quit:confused:
narayananMemberI have a feeling that the transport is trying to connect to msn even if i dont sign in. some of my friends have reported me saying that they get auto-replies with whatever message they send.
I had to change my password and dont use this Jabber transport temporarily.
Is there anyone who’s encountering a similar problem?
narayananMembertuff.enuff am looking for a Win 2k too. As Eggsalad said, Microsoft as such might not produce a Win 2k compatible Live messenger. I would wait for one of the clients like Trillian, Amsn to become compatible with the Live Messenger protocol, and my guesses it would’nt be out until Live Messenger gets out of BETA.
narayananMemberFirst question:
That ‘offline when I start chatting’ I guess is a Jabber MSN transport problem, I dont think we can do anything about it.I dint have any trouble renaming or never changed after I renamed.
A tip: you can rename much faster logged in from PSI. select the contact and F2 is the shortcut for renaming that contact, rather than right click on GTalk
narayananMemberI remember Messenger Plus, a plugin for MSN Messenger having something like this(its been quite a while since I’ve used it). I cant recollect what the exact settings were. Perhaps a current MSGPlus user would be able to guide more specific.
Meanwhile if you want to explore the addon: http://msgplus.net
PS: MSGPlus keeps those status logs (locally) only when your MSN is signed on when you were away.
narayananMemberHere’s a find from my friend Fred: Offline messaging exists, but in a hidden way.
Before you try this, you and your friend both should have chat archiving enabled, especially for that user. I dont know if it works with ‘Off the record’, it should’nt technically.
As your friend to logoff, try sending him a message now.
You will get an error message like: [email protected] is offline and can’t receive messages right now.
Now ask you friend to check his chat folder, he should find that as new entry.
narayananMemberdeepwater,
were u trying to integrate Yahoo?narayananMemberOops there was a 1 extra, the QQ# is 455317966
narayananMemberQuote:But seems the “real” QQ is 11.6MB, but hard to get in English.jus use a download manager. donno if the server actually supports Resume capability (Resume status showed Unknown). Takes some 1/2 hour even on a T1 to get that 11MB file.

Finally managed to signup on QQ with my friend’s help. QQ# 455317966 here.Just happened to see the tabs. Everything’s in Chinese :(. Not much of exploration till now. shall post laters
narayananMemberA silly question: How do I refetch registration in PSI ? If I try ‘Register’ when its fetching the registration form. The focus goes back to the ‘Fetching registration’ dialog.

Now that GTalk has enabled remote archiving in gmail. The jabber transports we use here too get archived 🙂February 2, 2006 at 9:41 pm in reply to: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Beta released to public #137575narayananMemberHaving just 2 tabs open, the memory usage for IE7 is at 53MB. If I open the same page in Firefox 1.5 the usage is at 23MB.
I felt a page loads much slower in IE7, the same page loads much faster in FF 1.5
My experience was pretty bad with the earlier BETA, so instantly downgraded to IE6. BETA 2 is a step better than the previous BETA.
Win 2k is one of the stable Win versions I’ve used. Donno why none of their own BETA releases support Win 2k 🙁
narayananMemberQuote:Does anyone know why Yahoo uses Ctrl instead of Alt for its shortcutsI’ve been using Yahoo since v5. Dont remember using an Alt key shortcut in Y! Messenger (other than menus). In the present version I guess most of the infrequent shortcut keys have been migrated to Ctrl-Shift combos like Ctrl-Shift-P for Preferences (previously Ctrl-P), Ctrl-Shift-A for Add a contact(previously Ctrl-A) and Ctrl-Shift-K for Stealth Settings(previously none). One reason for using this kind of difficult combo would be to avoid confusion with their general defenitions and shortcuts using in conversation window.
~~~~~~~~Quote:MY favorite shortcut key is Ctrl-HCtrl-F is mine (for the same purpose) 🙂
BTW do you think we use Send message to other contact that often ?narayananMemberThere used to be a shortcut Ctrl-S in the earlier versions. Lastly remember seeing it even in v6. I think even v6 runs on the current protocol.
But for the current build, there is’nt any keyboard shortcut now.
narayananMemberThanks Hasan, I think that explains the timeout ‘bug’ am experiencing.
However the bottomline: As a BETA user you can start a conversation immaterial of the online status. Receiving a response however would depend on how quick the reciepient responds.
