What are your goals for 2014? Any resolutions? How will you get there?
December 29, 2013 at 7:15 am #179319PhilipModeratorMaybe I’ll fall in love. I just don’t know whether it’ll happen or not.
December 29, 2013 at 7:55 am #179321Jeff HesterKeymasterPhilip, that would be nice. Do you have a plan? 🙂
2014 is going to be a busy year at work. I have a major project underway that demands a lot of my energy. With that said, I don’t want to put the rest of my life on hold. Here are a few of my goals for 2014:
- Post Daily – I’m developing a disciplined approach to writing, and one the ways I’m building that discipline is by writing a post-a-day. They won’t all be in one place; some of them will appear here on BigBlueBall, others will appear on SoCalHiker.net or theSCvibe.com or jeffhester.net. But the main point is to write, and to write regularly.
- Get Healthy(ier) – I stay pretty active, but I still battle with some extra baggage around the mid-section that I’d prefer not to carry. I have an annual physical and my Doc says my cholesterol and other blood tests look good. My plan of attack? I will be leveraging YOU for public accountability. I’ll share my journey and you can keep me honest on the way. I’ll also be using Quantified Self principles to track my fitness and weight loss, so I’ll know right away when things are going south (so to speak).
- Hike the Lost Coast – This 54 mile stretch on the Northern California coastline is one of the only places where there are no roads. The only way to see it is to hike it. That’s my big outdoor adventure for the year.
- Hike the Backbone Trail – This is a 68-mile trail that traverses almost the entire Santa Monica Mountain range. I had originally hoped to thru-hike it in a single trip, but there are no (legal) campsites along the trail yet, so I’m dividing in into a series of section hikes on weekends beginning in February. I’m going to turn this into a trail guide on SoCalHiker.
I have a few creative projects in the queue as well and I’ll share those details in another post.
