Hi, everyone!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Evgeny and I will be the authorized representative of Corp Soft company (Corpsoft.org) on BBB forums. I’ve been viewing and reading BBB for a long time and decided that as long as it’s the professional source of information on everything, which deals with IM, it would be interesting both for you and us to communicate here.
The form of this communication will be, as forum format hints us, free and informal. I am going to present and discuss with you our business IM software – OnLAN Messenger and expect that it will be of interest for you. This topic will provide information on the Corp Soft’s IM software, its features, news, interesting facts and more.
You may ask questions, tell me what you think, and join the discussion. I hope that it will be not advertising or something, but feedback and live discussion, that’s what I’m here for!
So, welcome friends!:)October 20, 2008 at 8:56 am #171197axelkanParticipantSounds interesting, please, tell us about your messenger.
October 20, 2008 at 9:07 am #171198axelkanParticipantWhat actually makes it to be a business messenger?
October 23, 2008 at 12:02 pm #171200Corp SoftMemberAxelkan, thanks for your questions. Actually, there are a number of reasons why it’s not worth using popular public IMs for corporate communications.
They are not secure, uncontrollable and wasting precious work time. Besides, they allow employees to chat with people who don’t belong to the company, which in many cases is undesirable. That’s why we designed a solution for companies who want to avoid these problems and gain more control over instant messaging at office.
I don’t say that OnLAN Messenger is the only one. The competition is tough and there are a lot of corporate messengers on the market.
But what makes our product different is exactly what you’re asking ’bout – it satisfies the needs of a business. OnLAN Messenger allows editing user policies and setting up roles for different positions in a company, displaying organizational structure, monitoring working hours and messaging activity and a lot more. I forgot to mention the basic features a corporate messenger must have – highest security level through encryption and secure LAN channel, file transfer, message delivery confirmation, web-interface and so on.
I hope I’ve answered your question.October 23, 2008 at 1:11 pm #171201Corp SoftMemberNow let me give you a product overview.
To start with, as it goes from the name of the software OnLAN Messenger messaging service is a client-server multi-user application for instant messaging and file exchange working on LAN. This product has been developed for using within corporate networks (enterprise instant messenger), therefore its functions and settings are primarily meant for handling the needs of organizations of all sizes, providing a safe and configurable tool for instant messaging and receiving necessary user information. The main difference between OnLAN Messenger and other similar programs (ICQ, Jabber, MSN etc) is that OnLAN Messenger is easily modifiable and features flexible security policies, which can be set up on the server and made mandatory for all clients. Program features are designed specifically for corporate use: clients are unable to close the program, offline messages are enabled, message status (delivered, shown, read) is recorded, delivery is guaranteed, complete records of all messages are kept, etc.
There is a free version of OnLAN Messenger and it has 5-user limit.
If you have more than 5 users in your company you can buy license packages.October 24, 2008 at 4:42 am #171196DavidParticipantCan you explain exactly what this means:
Quote:The stream encryption algorithms are used in OnLAN Messenger. All information that is sent between program modules via the network is encrypted using a cryptoproof algorithm. It eliminates the possibility of interception and information decryption.I imagine you mean stream cipher, and crypto… proof? You’re saying it’s unbreakable, or unencryptable?
How well does this application scale? How many clients can realistically use one server node, and is there an option of additional servers?
October 24, 2008 at 2:56 pm #171199Corp SoftMemberThank you for your questions, David.
Stream cipher and AES are used. The application scales really well, the bigger the number of users the stronger the hardware requirements. 1CPU 4CORE processor can operate 600-800 users.
Should you have more questions, please ask.February 12, 2009 at 2:54 pm #171202Corp SoftMemberHi, Everybody! We got some news for you here:
