I ran across the same article just today, and I’ve implemented a small change that should allow browsers with no referer information to still see the images. I’ve added the protection back in, so can you take a look again and see if it’s working now?
I did a quick test with Opera and referer logging turned off, and it works for me. I’ve got Norton Personal Firewall on my new PC at home, so I’ll check that tonight.
