Keep your windows uptodate and you WILL be fine. get SP2 when it gets released.

PS: the only reason people attack IE because its the most popular.. use bugzilla on mozilla or firefox they have tons of bugs as well.. atleast IE gets major updates so often.

People dont attack IE just because it has security holes. NO thats wrong.. its because its the most popular.. Firefox and other browsers have security holes as well. and there updates are late… for gods sakes try a spoofed URL on ANY other browser except IE and they all fall for it. Except for IE that released a patch more than half a year now.
I can’t believe your defending IE. You’ve got your facts wrong too. IE is not secure, regardless of how often you get your windows updates.

Quite the opposite. The problem is that IE gets only minor updates for exploits, and these only occur rarely after MS starts feeling pressure from security groups. There have been many known vulnerabilities that Microsoft has failed to fix.

Again, I don’t know what your talking about. Firefox is constantly being worked on. They release a new build every night, sometimes multiple builds in the same day.
Perfect example. Recently, they discovered a serious flaw in Mozilla. A few hours after the flaw was discovered, they released a new build with the flaw fixed, along with an update for all older versions of Mozilla and Firefox. Has microsoft every done that? This is all the more reason to switch to another browser. Your right that all software has its bugs and vulnerabilities, and that IE gets the worst just because they are the most popular. But thats no excuse for not releasing fixes and not trying to make more secure software. If it weren’t for IE the spyware problem wouldnt be as wide spread as it is now.
Anyway, back to the original topic. Wildatheart, I have to suggest you stop using Internet Explorer too. Like you, alot of people dont feel comfortable using a new browser. But if your concerned about security and keeping spyware, trojans, viruses off your computer, then youll be much better off using Firefox or Opera. I prefer Firefox due to its simple and customizable interface. Opera is very good too, but its a little more complicated with extra unneeded features.
Edit: Maxthon (MyIE 2) uses IE so I assume that its just as vulnerable. Just occured to me that the recent IE controversy is probably what prompted the change of name from MyIE to Maxthon, in an attempt to disassociate themselves from Internet Explorer.
