I agree completly that yahoo having all their profiles and searches on the webpage is not always the best way to do it.. It would probably be more understandable for some people to have it included in the program. I guess this is just the way the developers of Yahoo Messenger chose to do it. Perhaps you should look into other messangers (this site talks about many) that would suit your needs better.
