KeymasterEvery life has value, and I hope that Tillman’s death raises awareness of the losses still experienced in Afghanistan and other places around the world.
Let’s hope for peace, soon!

MemberI don’t like these kind of threads at all.
Reasoning is a bit hard to explain. Simply put, the American threads are simply coming out of my ass. Europeans generally don’t give a damn about American football (just like Americans don’t care about ‘soccer’). This means we do not know this guy and I doubt anyone would get any further than saying “sucks” and then going back to work.

Well, that sucks for the USA but USA, you are forgetting the world is a lot bigger than just the USA. BigBlueBall is an international forum. To me, as European, this is simply an insult. I don’t see any American giving a **** about Europe either, so why should I care about America?

MemberSo because this forum contains international members, there can’t be any American posts? If you had read the post Hyperbyte, it starts

Whether you are a sports fan, a veteran, or simply an AmericanThere was no real need to post that you are tired of this and that there shouldn’t be posts about something USA-specific because you feel insulted. Honestly, it is immature and just imflamatory. Why not start a European post? This is just a post acknowledging a death that is a great loss for Americans. Is that, in itself, a bad thing?

MemberWell, ok Djhyperbyte, I can see your point to a certain extent. But, american football is actually a well-known international sport now. How many countries did the super bowl air in last year? 120+ I believe. But yes, the post does shift towards the USA members. Yet, if you read the article, You have to admire any person (regardless of nationality) who shows as much moral character as he did. On a more personal note, I would mourn the loss of Elizabeth Hurley and Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and they are not from America – just an example… But seriously though, it takes a special type of person to make those kinds of sacrifices, especially in modern times.
Oh, and even though this is now 2 strikes against me, it is my solemn pledge to one day make a post that DJHyperbyte agrees with 😀 -just kidding. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions so I respect yours.

KeymasterAlthough this site is open to an international audience, the vast majority of visitors are still from the U.S.
Even so, I believe that because we have members from around the globe, we should feel free to share stories that reflect our perspective. I believe that helps all of us learn a little bit about each other, and makes expands our world view.
I like to hear the different perspectives and observations from different cultures and countries around the world. It helps me understand you better.
What is on the mind’s of the people in the Netherlands, or España, or the UAE? The net generation is more attune to the global view than past generations, and would like to know.
