ModeratorHello. I’ve been concerned because lately, there has been a dramatic decline in the number of members posting in the BBB forums. To that end, I’ve created this simple poll so that you can take part and anonymously give us, the staff, your feedback, so that hopefully we can make BBB a more interesting and exciting place for you to post your thoughts, ideas, or suggestions.
Please take part if you match the following criteria:
- You are not a member of the BBB staff (Premier Members can vote in this poll)
- You have not posted in the BBB forums recently.
I would also welcome your comments and suggestions. Thank you for your participation.

ParticipantI tend to post less than I used to just because I don’t have much to say anymore. It’s a combination of not having much to say, and a general loss of interest. Nothing against BBB itself, I just have a lot more time on my hands now than I did a month ago (unemployment has that effect), and I spend a lot of time bouncing between various sites.
I think one problem is that… as was brought up elsewhere… there’s not much left for BBB to solve. IM problems were a dime a dozen five years ago, but not so much anymore. People are figuring it out, the releases are getting easier to use and closer together, and the questions have been asked to death. I mean, do a search in the AIM forums for something like ‘how do i track who has viewed my profile’ and you get a million hits.
Meh.

KeymasterI voted “I don’t have time.” and “Other reasons (please specify)”
I have 3 young children and setting up my biz to become a full time photographer including web design etc that is maintained entirely by myself so finding time to visit this forum as well as my regular ones is limited lately.

MemberI find the ads like the one for “Yahoo Baseball07” that use pop-ups to be very annoying. I know ads pay the bills but they dont necessarily have to pop into your face when you move across them. I didn’t use to notice them so much but I’m feeling an increase in ads and a decrease in interesting posts. Yeah yeah, I know I could shut off pop ups but I chose to visit less instead.

The pop-ups are damn annoying, and don’t give a good impression when somebody visits the BBB site. Spike, please kill these pop-ups when you have time. Thanks.

MemberI had to stop posting because my computer crashed but I must admit that the lack of response about the Arcade [and the fact that it hasn’t been reset at the appropriate time for something like the fourth month running] is discouraging.
There are members willing to help, like me, but there seems to be a great yawning indifference from anybody in authority.
It’s difficult to remain enthusiastic in the face of this.
Sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear but, well, you did ask!!!

ParticipantSome of you people have talked about pop-ups? I honestly had never seen those before..I’m actually begining to think you are talking about “SnapShots” where you mouse over the image and the thing pops up right? Yeah, that is annoying. I turned it off on my computer though. (To disable it, hover over something, then at the top right corner there is a thing that says “Disable”. Click that and it takes you to some options where you can choose to kill it.)
Anyways, for me, I just find that no one else is really posting..so then for me it ends up being there just isn’t that much of stuff left here. It kinda all just broke away…
By the way, the SnapShots thing is NOT part of the ads, it’s an add-on to sites which I personally thing is just total $#!7. Being honest there, it bugs me, I can see how for some sites the original “Snap” has maybe some potential, but not here..and especially not for pictures…yeck.

Glad your computer is back up Leo! And this is exactly what we want and need to hear. Thanks for taking the time to let us know . . . we missed you, man.
I’m not a person in authority . . . but then who of us are, really. This is just a bunch of folks sharing information. If we happen to have some color associated with our avatar it means that we have taken extra interest at some point when there wasn’t much guidance in a particular area, and after a bit, someone asked, we answered, and voila . . . I’ve got a purple mentor thingy.
BBB is what each of us makes of it. When we have time and interest and something to say – we do! Otherwise, we just sort of check “today’s posts” and go about our daily lives – which for most of us are incredibly busy; resulting in less posts than there used to be. Is that bad? I dunno.

MemberMy reason for not being here as much is time really. Work etc, and especially in the summer it’s a case of wanting to not sit on a computer and enjoy my life outside basically.
I used to post quite a lot as I was on staff for a long period. In CC where I was based I got tired of posting and no one replying, mainly due to low member participation. So you do get to the point of thinking blow it cannot be bothered. Now if I do check bbb if there is something interesting I will log on and reply, but if I am brutally honest I find that it’s getting a rare thing these days.
I was really miffed about Leopyleo’s post where he was discussing the arcade section, and no one in staff bothered with it until I brought it up in the premier section and I had to have a rant to get some feedback for him.
However, BBB is about instant messaging and like tiger said now days there are less problems with the releases. Maybe we need to broaden the subjects we cover. This in itself poses difficulties choosing what would our members be eager to hear about discuss and become involved with. Tough one really.

MemberMmm, pretty much all things stated above so I won’t waste anyones time in saying it again

MemberWell I on my part have been busy at work for quite sometime that I could hardly surf the net. Also, sometimes when I visit the BBB, its either the question in the post has been answered, as I think the offered solution resolves the problem, or I just don’t know the answer to the question..:D (its tough being not updated for quite sometime)..:o
