My daughter came home from college on the 20th of Dec. for the holidays. What a visit I will always treasure. It being her first time away from home, therefore her first visit to home, brought so many different experancies. The young girl fresh out of high school came home a young lady on a Christmas break from college. There is a different air about her…a determination in her eyes…a goal set in her mind. Doubts are deminished. As I have looked in her eyes many times while she was home, I could see the excitement and the love for what she is accomplishing. Although hard at times, she is doing it!
Childern grow…and with that growth, comes a kind of maturity that leaves this parent very proud.
This morning is just the beginning of many goodbyes…as I held my daughter when saying goodbye I held my tears. We walked out to the car together as her brother and Dad helped with her luggage. We embraced once again before off to the airport they went.
Once alone…the tears flowed….as I wiped the tears away I whispered to myself…I love you baby…see you in the spring…
that story is very touching…you obviously have a very special relationship with your daughter which i admire!! it’s going to be the oppostie for me, i am going to be the one leaving home soon! that will be the hardest thing i have ever had to do because i get on well with my parents!! the shock of independance will be immense!
