MemberHey
Before I posted a page about why DeadAIM keeps popping up and asking for your serial. I have just found somthing that stops the serial login window. (This is not a Cack!)Click “start”
Click “run”
Type “regedit” and press “OK”
Go to “[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREJDennisDeadAIM]”
Right click on the “DeadAIM” folder
Choose “Permissions”
Click “Add” button
Type “Everyone” and press “Enter”
Click “Advanced” button
Click “Edit” button
Check on the “allow” colum for “Query Value”, “Enumerate Subkeys”, “Notify”, and “Read Control”
Check on the “deny” colum for all others except[/b] the “Full Control”
Click “OK”
Click “OK”
Click “Yes”
Click “OK”
Please note that you have to enter the serial and email in befor you do this and have DeadAIM runing (That means that the “Edit DeadAIM Options” is in the “My AIM” menu) Otherwise the serial entry window will come up again and you will not be able to enter the serial and password.

ParticipantI’ve got an easier method. Don’t be cheap and pay for it? 🙂

MemberThank you TigerBlade that has happened to many of the people that have bought it and it is compleatly unfair! You could even call it pirating money from the consumer! Anyway like i said this is not to be used as a crack!

As mentioned before, this doesn’t work as a crack. It’s just a bugfix for a problem with DeadAIM. Sometimes it keeps asking for your serial key over and over again. Following WetDog500’s instructions will simply allow DeadAIM to remember the serial key. This is not illegal in any way.
Good job on figuring this out, WetDog500! 🙂

MemberWonderful, thanks a ton WetDog500. I have developed a habit of misplacing the encrypted files I keep with such information (or deleting them) so this will make my life much easier.

It took me about 3 months to find this out myself and 2 calls to Microsoft. I was mad because they wanted to use my second call as my second and last suport pack so I gave them hell.
For Windows XP (this may work for Windows 2k i dont know)
Go to “My Computer”
Click “Tools”
Select “Folder Options…”
Click the “View” tab
Scroll to the bottom of the “Advanced Setting” section
Unclick “Use Simple File Sharing”
Click “OK”November 26, 2003 at 7:12 am #53062iC3DbLuE
Memberok that doesnt work either. there is no advanced setting section in the view tab.

MemberIt just has a light box around it. It is the only part of the “View” tab that has a scroll bar.

MemberI don’t see any box that says “Use Simple File Sharing”. This is on Win2k, so, any other ideas?
November 26, 2003 at 9:08 pm #53048shifter
ParticipantAs far as I know Windows 2000 does not allow Simple File Sharing, this is a Windows XP feature only.
It is my understanding that in Windows XP Pro (Home Edition is always Simple Sharing) having ‘Simple File Sharing’ Disabled allows you sharing features the same as Windows 2000, whereas enabling this feature would make your sharing features comparable more to Windows 98.

Member[Edit]: Post removed. Please read the forum policies! Suggestions for fixing this DeadAIM problem are welcome, suggestions for cracking the software are not!
