MemberThere is no guide that tells you how to write an AIM addon that I am aware of. Both DeadAIM and AIMutation are written in C++, where AIM+ is written in VB. If you like C++ your at a good start since according to the programmers of DeadAIM and AIMutation that is the only way to go when creating an addon for AIM.
If your serious about working on AIM addons and want to code in C++ then hopefully when the new AIMutation website comes up it may be good news for you and other C++ programmers. (I can’t say what the AIMutation announcement will be or when it will be offically made so don’t ask, sorry).

ParticipantVisual Basic (VB) is what AIM is mostly done in so I would figure that AIM Add-ons using VB would be the best.
PS: I do not like AIMutation; Bulky, crashes and pointless DeadAIM is better.

MemberIf you going to state something you might want to make sure you know what your talking about first…
AIM+ is not made in VB.
AIM is also not done in VB, let alone “mostly”…

ParticipantI think Tracer knows what he is talking about.
I know a few AOL employees and yes they say AIM is mostly done in VB and a few other languages.

MemberHello – My name is Anthony – I’m a moderator for Big-O-Software – I think I know what I’m talking about.
Think before you speak – And anyone that says AIM is made in VB is a idiot – I’ll pretend you said nothing :).
Perhaps Tracer was ill informed, but he is wrong…. And because clearly I don’t know what I’m talking about – http://discuss.big-o-software.com/viewtopic.php?t=131

MemberSorry that I posted AIM+ being in VB, it wasn’t meant to misinform anyone, it was my personal memory being wrong (thought I had read on Big-O-Software’s website long ago it being in VB). But, back to the original question if your wanting to make an AIM addon I would suggest C.
