MemberWhats happened with this site now? Before the site was better, now theres ads in the middle of the threads asking for people to pay or else that ad will be there. I mean don’t annoy people into getting them to pay and become a premeire member. Your better off putting an ad on the side asking for members to upgrade to premeire and not in the thread IMHO.

MemberTo be honest, i’d much prefer that. If the ad has to be there, it should be at the side or bottom of the page. Having it between two posts is annoying, and breaks up the thread.

ParticipantOh.. you don’t think ads are only there to look pretty? They are for revenue purposes. Let me ask you, how many times have you supported Jeff by clicking the Google Ads? How many times do you visit this free site that COSTS JEFF hundreds in a week? The Google ads don’t bother me at all. They are there because people don’t pay attention to the ones on the side, and thus revenue is lost. Support one of the greatest websites out there. Don’t want to pay to be a premier member? Click an ad or two once an awhile.

MemberHang on a minute detn8r, just calm down.
I never said there was no need for the ads, and yes, I do click on them when I read something that may be of interest for me. Maybe not everyone does, but I do.
Personally, if the ad is in a place which I consider to be annoying, I am actually less likely to click on it. I wasn’t criticising this website at all, or the work that Jeff does. It is greatly appreciated, you make it sound like I have absolutely no respect for what he does. I think it is one of the best sites on the web.

Participantuh, the only time i see the ads is if i’m not logged in. if you dont want to see them, well, sign in. that’s all there is to it, unless something changed recently that i havent noticed yet.

KeymasterActually, it did change. The fact of the matter is, putting the Google ads in the side was a bad move. I’ve moved them back to the forums. I can tell you for a fact that more people click on them there, so while you may not, you are the exception to the statistical rule.

MemberIt doesn’t bother me. I have seen other forums that have advertisements between posts and they are much bigger and extremely annoying. Honestly, I could care less if Jeff has them there or not. =)

MemberVBuliten fora aren’t free. They aren’t cheap either. But putting a big add at the top, ads between the posts, and still having the abnoxious bar along the side sours me. For $12. I’d rather get more than ads removed and the ability to change my title, for $12. So I’m not going to pay, and sit here like a stubborn baby.

why should I pay a website for just removing an add? (and changing your custom title)
I don’t care how much it is I just don’t see why I should pay strangers for internet purposes. It’s just a website. I’ll click on the ads if it makes ya happy.February 18, 2005 at 11:06 pm #114913RabidKitten
ParticipantI don’t know, it doesn’t bother me too much, to be honest. Advertising is just something that needs to be done. Supporting what you love is part of the cost *shrug* I take time to actually go through almost all the ads at least once a week and just click them for the sake of clicking and helping out. I don’t know what help it actually is, but hey, it’s an attempt, I suppose….

You have the “option” to pay if you want to lose the ads and get the bonuses. If you don’t think it’s worth the money, don’t freakin pay it. No need to start yammerin on and on about how you don’t wanna pay it. No one really gives a crap. -
