You have the “option” to pay if you want to lose the ads and get the bonuses. If you don’t think it’s worth the money, don’t freakin pay it. No need to start yammerin on and on about how you don’t wanna pay it. No one really gives a crap. The guy (LLXerxes) is just saying what he believes, not being a crybaby, this thread was made to post thoughts and opinions about this matter, the fact that u dont give a crap doesnt mean people will post opinions only of your personal liking.

KeymasterI block ad image servers by default on my network now, and i’ve recently updated my host file to take care of the BigBlueBall ads. BigBlueBall is just another website with ads, block them easily, like I do with any website with ads.

Thanks for understanding.February 21, 2005 at 4:41 pm #114917herberg2

We do have posts about that, although I don’t condone it nor use any of those hacks personally. There are plenty of ways to block ads, and in fact even programs like Norton Internet Security will block ads on web pages. I routinely use a pop-up blocker, mainly for protection from overzealous websites that spawn one popup after another. If someone blocks ads on this site or any other, that’s their business. However I don’t want someone encouraging others to do the same. The “solution” is to discuss ways to support the sites that you find useful, either through advertising or paid membership.
I recently had a member complain about the Smiley Central ads here, and so they were removed. Believe it or not, I do listen.

KeymasterI didn’t even notice the ads between threads before, just the one’s on the right and I click on them once a day. It’s not that hard. I know it’s expensive to keep a site running. I know because I have a friend who made his own site as well and I help him out by clicking on links, and although Jeff is not a close friend or anything, he is still a friend in the sense that he does all this stuff and takes a bunch of requests from people. How many site owners that you email actually reply back? I think the least you can do is support a site that is here to support you.

When you do see something that looks interesting, please check it out, but don’t click just for the sake of clicking. -
