Hi all,
This has been a pain for me for months (and keeps me away from “News” areas to an extent). Time I vented my spleen !Using SlimBrowser (an I.E.6 derivative) I find with my “normal” browser window size, when I go to a BBB News page (https://bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-messenger-news/ but exactly same in MSN) the advert panel covers ALL the top 2 or 3 posts.
The “workaround” is to widen my window… but…. it’s fine for 99.9% of sites I visit, why should I need it so excessively wide ?
I attach 3 screenshots:
1. My “normal” size. Note horizontal scroll bar at bottom.
2. Just SLIGHTLY wider. (Note now NO scroll bar!)
3. Almost full width of my screen (1024×768). Only here is text readable.I happened to try this at work today (just using very standard I.E. 6 – same result. In fact that screen is set to 800×600, so I think the page was unreadable even at full stretch)
Ian, this is a valid problem at lower resolutions or if you don’t run your browser in a 1024×768 (or larger) window. This is just one of several problems with the news sections, and I’m in the process of restructuring them.
I worked on this for several hours yesterday, and will work on it some more tonight.

Thanks Martin… and Jeff, I’m glad to find it’s a “known problem”.
BTW, maybe a relevant time to show how I view BBB just in general.
I have my browser window size set just for general surfing which is fine 99% of the time – but with BBB the right hand column is never visible.However, this is NOT a bug, it’s a FEATURE .
In fact I went a few weeks before I was even happened to notice what I was “missing” – a few alternative (superfluous?) options, some ads , and some links.But I never miss what’s over there – my “narrow” view is just fine, incredibly so!
Example 1 – my normal view.
Example 2 – ditto, but scrolled to RIGHT edge to show that side.
