MemberLately I’ve been hearing rumors of an Age of Empires III….anyone else hear these rumors? Anyone have some facts to share? I hope they do come out with AoEIII ….I love both (well, more like all 4) of the previous versions, I think they might be my alltime favorite computer games.

MemberI haven’t heard anything yet, but I’m sure with the success of AoE, there will be more of them on the way.
What you MIGHT be hearing about is the game Empires: Dawn of the Modern World from Stainless Steel Studios (The same Company headed by Rick Goodman, the lead designer of AoE, and the company that made Empire Earth)
Unfortunately the release is to-be-announced.April 5, 2003 at 8:11 pm #63666Zlink123
MemberNo, it wasn’t that….here is a blurb from one place where there are rumors “14:49 Rumour on the Net is suggesting that Age Of Empires developer Ensemble Studios is actually working on yet another instalment in the highly regarded RTS franchise.
Age Of Discovery, as it is being called, will apparently be built on the engine used for the upcoming Age Of Mythology game, and will feature around 50 single-player missions and a number of nations…..”I hope they are right!

Memberi haven’t heard anything of a new one coming out…but that would be cool. I know they’ve probably been thinking about it..and probably making one. you all may have heard something but i dont look for things to find it. i had an idea though of what it could be like….like Age of Empires III: The rise of a nation. like it could start in the colonial age then go to the mechanical age and then the industrial age and then finally the nuclear age. however you’d probably have to take alot of the swordsmen out of the game since nowadays we dont have many if any swordsmen in the world. and of course the ultimate weapon would be built at the airport that would be like another siege workshop, and it would produce a stealth fighter and would carry an atom bomb, it would carry the atom bomb seperate as in you have to build the plane and then the bomb and it takes a while and then you can drop the bomb on your enemies civilization. well anyway that was just my idea…. have a nice day

MemberHmmm they have a game out called Rise of Nations, but it isnt in the Age of Empires genre. The screenshots look pretty cool too.
Rise of Nations carries the sweeping scope of epic historical turn-based strategy games, but gives the quick decision-making of real-time games such as Age of Empires. The game brings to life the entire sweep of human culture, from the late Stone Age to modern-day technology – not just in warfare, but in city building, trade, and diplomacy. You can move through the game timeline quickly and have a satisfying game experience without playing for hours!

Dawn of a New Age: Age of Empires III Announced for 2005 Release
Microsoft Game Studios and Ensemble Studios are proud to announce the return of the king of real-time strategy games: Age of Empires III is scheduled to ship in the second half of 2005. This will be the latest landmark release in the award-winning franchise that has sold a staggering 16 million units worldwide.
Age of Empires III will offer gamers the next level of realism, with advanced battle physics and unparalleled visual detail. The new game picks up where Age of Empires II: Age of Kings left off, placing gamers in the position of a European power determined to explore, colonize and conquer the New World. This time period features stunning scenes, from towering European cathedrals to courageous tribes of Native Americans, and spectacular combat with Industrial Age units like rifled infantry, cavalry and tall ships bristling with cannons.
Age of Empires III will once again demonstrate Ensemble Studios’ reputation for excellence and innovation in the real-time strategy (RTS) genre. The game will set a new standard for visual quality and amaze players with detail never before seen in an RTS. Age of Empires III will excite strategy gamers with new game-play elements, including the concept of a “Home City,“ new civilizations, units, technologies and an immersive new single-player campaign that will span three generations.

MemberAnyone playing Age of Empires III? I love the Native American units and all the free stuff you get from your home city, but I still find myself playing Age of Mythology and Age of Empires II alot more often that I play the new game.
