MemberHi, I’rve recently run into a problem with my version of AIM 5.5.3595 that i use in conjunction with the Dead AIM plugin. Is anyone able to actually install this version on their installation of Windows XP SP3 without issues? I’ll provide further details if anyone is able to assist.

MemberDoes AIM 5.5 even work anymore? I’d suggest updating AIM to 5.9 or one of the 6 builds.

I’m wondering whether anyone else has trouble installing the same build on XP SP3?? The newer builds are bloated junk with ads and don’t support Dead AIM.

MemberWell, for AIM 6 there’s something called AIM Simple Cloner which clones an AIM instance.

MemberSo I gave in and I’ve upgraded to AIM 6.9 with adhack, aim simple clone & nalsoft AIM log manager.
I used to use an application called AIM settings backup wizard. Doesn’t seem to work with AIM 6 as it uses an entirely different directory to install. Any recommendations to transfer settings over from AIM 5.5.3595 to AIM 6.9?
Thanks

MemberAs far as I know, you can’t import settings from 5.x to 6.0.

MemberIf you’re having problems with deadaim, you could give middle_man a whirl, which supports up to 5.9.6089:

I can’t remember which version, specificially, but I think deadaim only officially supported up to 5.2.3139. There were so many versions in the AIM5 series, I may have mixed a minor.build together.

ParticipantI’ve had no problems with AIM 5.5.3595 and DeadAIM. Everything works fine.
