MemberOkay I know I said I would never upgrade to 5.9 in all of my previous posts. But yesterday I downloaded it. It really isn’t bad.
Just remove all of the advertisement crap that they give you and your good to go.
Go to C:Program Files .. delete the “AOD” and “AWS” folders. And thats all the stuff that you really need to take out.
Besides that, there are great features such as the new AIM Expression window which is designed to resemble the AOL 9.0 Expression window. It’s very simple to change your expressions, buddy icons, IM sounds, and buddy wallpaper. It’s kind of weird how they opened this feature to free AIM users… Now no ones going to want AOL 9.0 and pay for it.
I suggest AIM 5.9 (as hard as that is to say). It’s really not as bad as I thought.

MemberI’d use it except that theres no logging. Once I find a program that can do logging on 5.9 I’ll probably upgrade. Hopefully, DeadAIM will get updated soon but people seem pessimistic about seeing an update.

MemberYou would think that what with all the AIM plugins availible today that offer logging features, AIM would just integrate one with the default installation and save users the headaches when poorly written plugins conflict with the software. Wishful thinking, I suppose!

Participantyour mistake is in thinking that AOL cares. hahahahahahahaha funny. not gonna happen. I was shocked when AOL actually stepped up and basically took over JDennis and DeadAIM, making the popups a part of aim. that was a huge step forwards, but unfortunately it doesnt make much of a difference against all the massive leaps backwards AIM has taken….

MemberAs I have mentioned in previous posts, I will never upgrade from 5.5. I made that mistake once and found myself on http://www.OldVersion.com getting the old one back! Some things are better left un-touched. Aim was one them…

MemberI don’t know why they dont just add logging either.. They need to work on the essentials before they start adding superbuddy icons and crap. 4.4 had logging but it disappeared in future versions.
