Can anyone in my buddy list (which I haven’t clicked on profile or any other links on their away message or sent an IM, also I haven’t established direct IM) get my IP?
Thanks,
Melis
There were programs out there that could grab your IP, either without you knowing or by simply requesting a direct connection and then automatically grabbing your IP wether you accept or not. And if you accept it would simply cause an error. These programs have been patched by AOL, but expect more too be released in the near future. I dont think you have much to worry about, AOL patched most of these programs in a matter or days.
just get a firewall, even if they do get your ip they wont be able to do anything with it
Thanks for the answers, I asked this question because 2 people on my buddy list- in my account which I don’t really use too often- sent me my IP number as an IM, then asked for my name.
I haven’t sent any IMs to them, haven’t established any direct connection, haven’t clicked on anything on their profile/away mesage, don’t really remember who they are, when I added them to my buddy list, but I know that they have been in that list for about a year…
