A few days ago AIM stopped working on all the computers in my household (my PC and my sister’s laptop that share the same SBC DSL connection via a wireless router).
Every time I try to sign on it goes to “1. Connecting…” and then displays “The AIM service can’t be reached” error box, or it gets to step 2 and then displays the error box.
I tired to upgrade to 5.9 in hopes that this would solve my problem but it didn’t. This seems to only effect me as everyone else is able to sign on AIM. I use SBC DSL as as far as I know I’m not using a firewall. However, when I tried to Auto Configure my Connection Preferences I am unable to find any open port.
Please help.
hm… my friend is having the EXACT same problem. He is also wirelessly connected through SBC Yahoo DSL. Now that you’ve experienced the same problem, I’m starting to think it has to do w/ the wireless connection. We’ve got SBC Yahoo @ our house too, but its not a wireless network, and AIM works fine. I’ll look into this…
AIM just started working out of the blue and I did not change any settings on my computer.
