i’ve had AIM for a while… and i just started to have a big problem with it……. whenever i go to sign on whith any screenname it says aim service can’t be reached. i’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling it several times and i still have the same problem… a little help please?!?!
have you tried using the connection tool in the prefs, this is scans all ports to try to get a connection. it can take some time. but its well worth it.
on your sign in box click on setup, in the sign on/off option theres a button that says connection, clicking that will open a further window. select auto configure in this wondow and allow it to do its thing, then try to sign in. hope this helps. 🙂
😡 Try to disable your firewall if you have one running. ‘-‘
Disabling the fire wall shouldnt even be an option, that will just allow attacks etc. AIM will run perfectly well with any firewall as long as its using the correct ports, thus running the connection wizard would help.
I know why i couldn’t get on… i figured it out today. the thing was that i have the Norton Internet Security program and i accidentally blocked AIM’s connection to its port… stupid me:(
yay so i wa s on right track ‘-‘ always do make sure about locking programs on accident 🙂
