KeymasterHave you read the news about AIMutation?
According to an announcement at AIMutation.com, the original developers Em and Jier are handing off AIMutation to Tracer and LordIcarus. AIMutation will be free and and open source project.
This should prove to be a boon to any developer interested in getting involved in creating add-ons for AIM.

MemberSome times ago at FAQ section of AIMutation’s site was written something like this:
Q:Can I get AIMMutation sources?
A:No probs! Just send us $5.000.000 and sources will be yours! Now AIMutation becomes open-source. Strange joke of fate?

MemberWell you can still send us $5,000,000.00 otherwise wait for the new site 🙂

MemberTracer, has a contest winner already been picked from deviantART? (Just trying to get an idea of the website status)
February 3, 2004 at 6:45 pm #85227Tracer
MemberThat was all part of 545studios which is no longer around. So I’m not sure what the status is what was going on with their affilation with deviantART.

MemberSo AIMutation is completed disowned (for lack of a better word) by 545studios? This means that you and Lord Icarus are now in charge of AIMutation (via some contract I’m sure).
Does this mean you and him are currently working on a new site?
Also, this is a question for Lord Icarus (don’t know if he comes here): Will he be continuing the production of his plugin AIM#? From a previous post on our forums (@middle_man) he seemed like he was moving away from C# so I would assume not.
If I’m asking too much information (to Tracer of Lord Icarus) just don’t respond to me, heh. I won’t be offended.

Memberhmm this is kinda off topic but zerooffline… are u by any chance one of the creators of middle_man? i dunno why i had to ask that question. i guess it has something to do with that name, zerooffline.
February 4, 2004 at 1:52 pm #85235zerooffline
MemberYes, I am one of the creators. I use zerooffline on all other forums except my own.

MemberHe was going to do AIM# but, after working with VB he found that it is totally useless for making an AIM addon. So instead many of his ideas he will try and put in AIMutation. Since AIMutation maybe we can see some of the features of Middle_Man go in AIMutation too … hint… 🙂

MemberWith AIMutation going open source, it definitely opens up some possibilities for the community to open up. I can’t say exactly what middle_man will be able to give back to the community since we don’t exactly know how AIMutation is set up. So I guess we’ll have to wait for the source to come out before we establish that.
I’m curious about the plugins that were created. Will they be open source also, Tracer? (more specifically SmileyPlus). And another question. I was a member of your forums before the page went down, however I am unable to log in and I am unable to register in the new one. Is it still under construction?
Just wanted to add that it seems like you guys are working hard on getting everything back up, good job!

MemberTry clearing your browser cache, the forum should be setup for new accounts.
I don’t know about the plug-ins will be made open source or not.
February 4, 2004 at 7:21 pm #85231zerooffline
MemberTracer, I am able to see the webpage fine. I can even go to the registration page. However when I get to the page, there is no space to input a username, and clicking submit proves useless because its not registering a username. I’ve tried going on this computer, and also using a proxy to make sure my cache was cleared.
I’ll try again when I get home from work, maybe it will work then. If not, perhaps I can IM you so we don’t have to spam these forums.
I’m guessing by your response that open sourcing the plugins has not been discussed yet? If it hasn’t been, maybe you could put it on the table. I’m sure more people are interested in it then just me.

MemberSorry a bug in one of the pages… fixed it you should be able to register now with no problem. I did dicuss with EM on releasing the code for the plugins but, he wanted to get AIMutation’s code released first.

It basically is on the table, but it is off to the side with the peas 🙂 Although the BuddyAmp plugin, if the old version is not open sourced, a new version will be written pretty easily that will be open sourced. As far as the others, we are working out the details of it. Just a little more time really and everything will be known for sure.
