Okay..I just installed and uninstalled Paint shop Pro 8.0 and now all my image files (.jpg, .bmp etc) can not be opened, I know that I can open them using the MS Paint but is there any way to make them how they used to be?
Yes, you can go to Folder Options < File Types, and then change the program that each extension uses.
where can I find folder options?
found it but how do I change the program that each extention uses?
Find the file extension in the list, for example, JPG, click once on it. Then it will show the details including what it opens with, click Change and select the program you would like to use when opening it.
just adding some info….
change how a file opens- 3 different ways * in case DarkLord runs into a prob… some ways are easier for some than others….
hold shift, and right click the file, and click open with, and select the tool…like note pad
windows explorer > tools > folder options > file type tabs > find (old way to open), remove file type/ > find (new way to open ), add file type
open windows explorer….then click tools.. folder options…then file types…. scroll to the file type its wanting to play.. and change what that file is opened with
May I add to the above, that when you use the first method, you need to check the box which says “always use this program for this file type…” otherwise you will have to do this each time. Also you will have to make sure the file is selected before you hold shift and right click, i.e. left click the icon once first.
