MemberI came across a rather interesting problem with my mothers phone, and AIM. Being the cheapasses that we are, we got a phone that didnt have AIM on it, so we used signing on with text messaging. Free text messaging for 2 months kept us on quite a bit. After that, to avoid over charging on the texts, we logged off. Or so she thought she did. Her name is always online, with the mobil signal next to it. She’s sent the “sign off” message to the right number quite a few times, and it always replies about having been signed off, but yet she’s still on. No help from Verizon or AIM. Any suggestions?

MemberThis happened to me. After getting a 200$ phone bill in april and a 150$ phone bill in may since the service would not sign off properly and the IM’s getting sent to me while I was on the computer were also going to my phone, we ended up calling Cingular and having them disable AIM and Text Messaging on our phone altogether. Many people are experiencing this problem, and I would suggest you either do what I did and cancel it, or call and complain until Verizon does something about it.

MemberSign on to AIM on your computer and try sending an IM to AOL System Msg. Type in “1” without the quotations. That will sign off all other locations besides your computer.

i had the same problem with CINGULAR!!! I suggest not signing on to your phone.. or if you have problems with Im’s still being sent to your phone, go into the AIM Mobile, delete your phone number.. and put in a fake 1234534643 number or your house number
