MemberI’m not sure why its not working for you, I tried it on my Messenger, and it took the tabs off. I closed my Messenger and re-opened it and signed in, and the tabs where gone.
Are you making sure that you are unchecking the ones you dont want on?

In a lot of cases and even with BSOD’s while chatting, A simple uninstall/reboot/re-install brings harmony to the system. Dont install any add-ons for ’bout a week to prove stability, after that? the world is your oyster.

ParticipantHey.
I know this is very late, but just wanted to post my theory about these tabs. Here goes…
When you sign up for a Hotmail account, you get to use MSN Messenger with that username too. While using Hotmail, you come accross lots of banners, and when using MSN Messenger, you have the little advertising banner in the program itself.
Now, when you sign up for a .NET account, eg: ****@bluewin.ch, and use Windows Messenger, you don’t need the Email-Announcement Add-in, and therefor also dont have the advertisement banner in the program. Seeing that you are not even using Hotmail to check your email, you don’t see those banners either.
Now, because of this, I think that when you sign in with a non-hotmail account, you have no other choice, but view the ‘off-pissing’ tabs! See, I signed in with a @hotmail.com account, and I could take away the tabs, without them comming back. Then I signed in with a @bluewin.ch account, and the tabs where there. I could take them all away, but as soon as I closed MSN (Not even signed out), and re-opened it, they were back.
See, my theory is basically, when using an non-hotmail account, and not having the email-notification add-in installed, microsoft is not making any money from you, so this is their way of making you see some adds! It sucks, but thats life!
But this is just my theory, ;).

Memberok this reply is proly WAY to late…but if you have MSN 5.0 goto tools>options…then click the privacy tab and check the box that says “this is a shared computer so dont display my tabs”
