MemberHello, I’m going crazy here. I have followed several guides on how to play music through my sound card, realtek ac97, I can’t get it to work. I go to recording and select stereo mix but nothing is playing in the room. I have noticed that I am unable to check the mic box at all, could this have anything to do with it?Any ideas for me to trouble shoot?

MemberHello, and welcome to BigBlueBall! 😀
You have to use a mic locker on it. Checking the ‘hands free’ box doesn’t work.
Download the mic locker called Yaheek here. 🙂 Hope this assists you!
Note: You have to drag the cursor in Yaheek on top of the Talk button to ‘lock it down’. 🙂

MemberHi Ven0m,
I have not gotten far enough to need a mic lock. I knew the hands free one for chat wouldn’t work, but I have been holding the button manually, it still cant be heard. Are you saying that mic lock is required?March 9, 2007 at 10:59 pm #159020imported_Ven0m
MemberUsually, yes. I can’t imagine somebody holding down the button for a long period of time. 🙂 When you do play music, do others hear it at all?

MemberThey hear noise but not music, kinda like my mic is still on and they hear the music from my speakers, but im told it sounds awful. When I get it working I wil need a mic lock for sure.

Memberentrail,
If you’d like, you can meet me in Yahoo Messenger and I can walk you through the proper setup for playing music in the rooms. We can go in a voice conference (which functions the same as any other public room) to go through the process, and the test it on a few songs. I’ve done this with people for several years now, and I’ve found showing someone the proper method is usually more beneficial than using some tutorial. Send me a private message on here and we can schedule a time. I’d be happy to help you out.

Membermfenech,
I appriciate the offer, I don’t get much time on messenger, the time I do get is very random so it will be hard for us to hook up. If I can’t get this resolved I will PM you, thanks.Dermot,
I have tried both of these walkthroughs and still nothing. My systen is almost identical to the second link you posted, when I am at the sixth and last step stereo mix is already selected and I am unable to unselect it, nor am I able to select mic, or any other check box for that matter, everthing seems to be locked so I am unable to change it. How would this affect what I am trying to do?March 12, 2007 at 7:54 am #159022COoKeD
Memberfollow the steps from the second link that Dermot posted …
- make sure Wave Out Mix/Stereo Mix is selected (with this selected any sounds from your PC can be heard on voice in the chat room)
- If you dont have ‘Stereo Mix’ but have ‘Wave Out Mix’ open another volume control window and unselect mute under microphone (when you want to talk while playing … this way you don’t interrupt the music anytime you feel the need to run your mouth)
oh … you’ll need a good mic lock also (obviously) … Yaheek is the best one out there IMO
I’m a ‘real DJ’ … so if you have any any questions about programs, Timecoded Vinyl, mixers, echo boxes, turntables …. anything … just ask
😎

Member¤Ç®Øø|KëФ,
I have followed the steps for several hours last week, no way would it play through my card. Stereo mix is ticked, and I couldn’t un-tick it if I wanted too, it won’t allow me. Same as I can’t tick or un-tick any of the other choices in the recording properties. The only thing I can adjust in the recording function is the sliding volume and balance levers under stereo mix.

ParticipantSounds like a device issue, do you have a soundcard or do you use like a e-machine with a sound chip?

MemberDermot,
Belark tells me I have Realtek AC’97 Audio , thats what comes up as my mixer device as well, when I am into my volume properties. I bought this machine new at christmas time, it a regular acer tower.
